Has anyone heard any update on the status of this?

I wish we could get an update. Big J 02-02-07, 07:32 PM I've given up on this. I've been really disappointed with how small labels have handled the high def discs. J BuGsArEtAsTy 02-02-07, 07:47 PM Well, I guess the good news is they don't charge your credit card before they ship. I ordered this many moons ago, and had forgotten about it as well. HDScape Jeff 02-05-07, 10:11 AM Hello All, I understand your frustration with the performance of small label HD DVD/Blu-ray studios. Let me give a little insight into the problems that have come up. Big studios and small indie studios do not use the same programming hardware and software. While the larger houses have poured time money and expertise into creating and supporting one format or another, we small companies are left to fend for ourselves with players that are not consistent (A1 had 2 or 3 updates, and the A2 just had its first..) and authoring software that is just as inconsistent as the players. Here is a good analogy: When magazines first became an accepted form of media, a large team of professionals were needed for the production; a single 2 page layout required type-setters, designers, engineers and others who laboriously put the images and pages together. Today, a single graphic designer can sit down at a Mac with Adobe software and produce something nicer than what that team could have produced years ago, in an hour. This is how I see DVD authoring vs. HD DVD authoring. Any one of you could author a DVD in an hour. However, the tools to author a mass market HD DVD are not perfected. The big studios have the resources to put the same large team which was required years ago for a magazine article onto HD DVD authoring projects. Meanwhile, we are trying to produce a quality program with limited resources. In a year, a single artist may be able to sit at a mac (or Vista computer in this case) and author an HD DVD. Not yet, though... So please be patient while we balance timeliness with quality. The programs will come out, but we will not release a bugged, poorly encoded program. We will not charge Credit Cards until we are ready to ship. Assuming the check disc passes QC this week, we will have the title available by the end of the month. Thank you for your continued patience and understanding. Best Regards, Jeffrey Goodman HDScape / DVD International efralope 02-05-07, 11:28 AM Thanks for your input Jeff. More than happy to wait if it means less chances of problems. People experienced hardware issues early on and with some Weinstein titles on HD DVD, and some big studios on Blu-ray released defective discs as well (Speed, etc...) that had to be replaced, so if big names like Fox can mess up even with vast resources, I can only imagine how it must be for a small label. This is aside from the fact that some players have problems with Weinstein titles taking long to load, and of course before some updates, the BD-J title Descent wouldn't even work on some players, so I think we all understand and can be patient. Thanks for posting, looking to hear if DVD International has additional plans for HD DVD after they've finished the HDScape lineup. pchin2 02-07-07, 02:01 AM I also very keen to try this on my HDTV...The time is near, I don't mind waiting for another few more weeks :) |
