I'm wondering when you might guess that we will start seeing very cheap, bargain-bin type, discounts and promotions for certain titles - whether from online or B&M stores.

I see that my two buddies who own 360 add-ons only buy stuff like Kong and Batman (owning about 5 titles total each) when they actually DO want and would buy slightly less-popular and less well-authored stuff like the Lethal Weapon movies and Fugitive. However, the reason they do NOT buy these titles now is because they assume (justifiably?) that titles in the vein of the latter WILL be sold for more ultra-bargain level prices soon enough.

See it's easy to see prices staying high on stuff like Batman Begins, Kong, and a lot of the rarer/more expensive combos like Fearless and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang - but with other titles like:

-The Fugitive
-Full Metal Jacket
-Perfect Storm
-Sleepy Hollow
-Lethal Weapon 1 & 2
-Under Siege
-Happy Gilmore
-Apollo 13
-Goodfellas
-anything else that started out near 19.99 MSRP
-anything else that doesn't have many/if any special features
-anything else that isn't an ultra-popular title ~ even Half-baked maybe?!

^^I can see where they wouldn't wonder if these titles won't just be heavily discounted or sold in "buy 1 get one free" style sooner or later.

When do you think this might happen though? And what do you think the best promotion or deal will be that we'll see (online or not) for the format - over, say, the next 18 months?

I just realized - to add some fuel to the fire - I was at Wal-mart the other day with my wife and was shocked to see that the popular Xbox 360 launch titles "Perfect Dark Zero" and "Kameo: Elements of Power": were selling for $14.99 brand new.

These titles only came out about a year ago and originally retailed for $49.99.

I don't know if that has any correlation to movies - but still...

I've bought the Ray and Sleepy Hollow HD DVD movies for $13.49, each, shipped from Amazon.com. I bought these movies back in August and still had the Amazon Prime free trial, so I was able to get free two day shipping on each separate order.

Btw, Best Buy had a "Buy 1, Get 1 Free" deal for some BD discs a week or two ago. I bought several BD movies with that deal.

When Warner switches to their Total-HD format, I would think we might see see some crazy clearance deals on the single format versions of some of those titles. For example, Superman Returns. Watch for clearance prices on the older pressings at that time.

I'd say not for awhile. Although target sold
Phantom for like12.99 at one point...

But I don't see a Bin yet more like some sales on older discs, but only at places like walmart and target. BB, CC won't drop their prices anytime soon..

Same as DVD. When Joe Six Pack owns the format.

Keep waiting. ;)
