So, once I had to watch some materials for a mangement conference, and my hotel didn't have a DVD player. So I bought a Desay 5701 from Radio Shack for about $30, and it worked fine.

Fast-forward to today, when I bought a Region 2 copy/PAL of "Zidane: A 21st Century Portrait" from Amazon UK, wondering how in the heck I was going to play it. Found the region unlock data for the Desay, put the disc in, and it plays just beautifully on my Sony projection set.

I'm thrilled, but also flummoxed. Why would this be? The disc itself is PAL, and Region 2. I can see the region unlock working, but why does this disc display perfectly well on my set, no distortion, no nothing....just a lovely picture of one of the greatest footballers ever.

Anyone familiar with this?
