Okay why the hell did we get red dragon then? This is ridiculous, I've been planning on getting red dragon once the other two came out on HD DVD. Now I don't want it. Same thing for the Bourne movies, I know it is suppost to come out sometime but why the hell isn't it out yet?

Different studios.

Silence of the Lambs was an Orion production, whose catalog was later bought by MGM when the studio went under. Hannibal was then produced and distributed by MGM. However, Red Dragon is distributed by Universal.

I'm sticking with the Criterion DVD. Even though it's quite dated, the transfer (along with the Criterion LD) was approved by the film's cinematographer Tak Fujimoto. The Criterion transfer maintains the red hues the cinematographer is known for.

The Orion/Image, MGM SE, MGM CE DVDs, and eventual Blu-ray are not approved by Mr. Fujimoto.

The color temperature difference is rather pronounced.

Also keep in mind Hannibal Rising is coming out soon to theaters and is a Wienstien movie and therefore a HD-DVD exclusive.
