Hello all I have a Thought and a question

I see a lot of talk here and on hsu forum about the mid bass module

I was thinking/wondering if I could take an existing sub and add some type of crossover to it to make it a mid bass sub/module?

If anybody thinks this would work, what crossover should I use and where should I install it thanks for any input

I was thinking of using my Athena M225 sub for mid bass if possable, I replaced it with an HSU VTF 2.3

I don't think that would work, no. The HSU MBM is specifically designed for midbass, - with a special driver etc.. the Athena sub wouldn't put out the same 'punch', nor would it be as fast etc........ imo.

I tried to do that last year using a M&K MX125 sub and an inline filter from parts express to cause the 50hz crossover.

Results Stunk.

Not sure exactly why other than than something to do with the crossover. The sub itself has very good midbass and not particularly strong down under. Thought it would be an excellant candidate for the experiment.

I currently have the HSU MBM-12. Althought I've got it fairly well intergrated, I still want to check the time alignment between the MBM and the regular sub. Being out of phase can screw things up there too.

I tried that once in desperation with my PS-1000 and my Vega. I was trying to get more midbass punch by having the PS do mids and the vega do lows. This was obviously before I discovered what phase cancellation was. My mid bass improved when I shut the PS off.
