I am trying to cal. my electrohome Marquee 8000. I am using an older Prog Labs CA-1 and the standard software. I understand the princilples behind grayscale calibration.
There is one thing that I am not sure of. If I adjust the Cont and Brite using DVE, the x,y values are way to high to adjust (i.e. x=.360 y-.347). If I set the appropriate G2 or Drive all the way down, they still wont get to .313 and .329. What do I need to do? Am I supposed to adjust either cont. or brite for each IRE window (DVE) to match a certain light output? If that is so, what number for Y am I looking for? Otherwise, please tell me how to do this.

Thank you
Darren

Hi, Darren. Either you have the contrast high enough that the blue CRT is falling behind the others (likely), or the CA-1 probe is out of calibration (possible), or both. Try dropping down the contrast while displaying a 100 IRE/100% stim window until you see an x/y reading at .313, .329 or as close as you can get. If this doesn't work or you see a noticeable color tint to the window when the CA-1 is reporting .313, .329, you could have an out-of-cal probe.

The CA-1 software shows a target value (from cal file) for Y (light output) of 8.76. I am not sure what to do with that. Am I supposed to adjust the contrast until the Y in the software is at 8.76?

Thank you
Darren

Thanks Cliff. I wasn't sure if you still support that old stuff. ;-) I'll call you as soon as I can

Oops! I forgot about asking Cliff. I have the CA-6X and he's been very helpful. I suggested lowering the contrast only as a means of sorting out where the problem you're having with insufficient blue might lie.
