I got my 895 two weeks ago and it was the stores last one and it had been opened for display but unused so I thought it wouldn't matter. However the installation-guide and Installation-CD proved to be missing as I was going to start installation. Still, I thought it wouldn't matter. I downloaded the last driver and I started the online install.

However, The online installs first step is to ask me to install the driver, and the driver-installs first step is asking me to follow the installation-guide and then select "next". I have no installation-guide and what it describes is obviously not what I suspected to be the obvious move. And downloading the manual is only available if you've registered which requires installation.

It's been two weeks now and it will be at least two more until I get a chance to go by that store again to get my guide...

So, if anybody owning an 895 (or 890) can do a quick synopsis of the installation-guide or even better, can find a link to a pdf-version or similar, or even mail me it (mobile at sdplus dot com), then I would be grateful. I want to get going installing this thing... :)

Edit: and by the way. Logitech does not have any apparent e-mail support adress in Sweden, and the phone-hours is when I am not home, and not at all on Sundays. Kindof frustrating...

All the installation guide tells you to do is charge the remote, then connect it to your pc via the USB cable and then install the software on the CD. I think you're going to need the CD to get up and running as even the online interface uses your locally installed software to update the remote. (there is a guide for the RF extender too but all it is is plugging it into the USB port and updating it via the installed software). Sorry, but I think you will be out of luck without the software.

Luckily the latest software is available for download without registration.

Anyway, the guide does not say anything about the RF-extender at the installation-stage? Only to charge it and plug the USB-cable directly to the remote?

No, you will connect the extender to the computer via the same USB cable when updating the extender. The software will guide you with this.

Ok, other questions.
I originally thought the IR-eyes connected to the extender would have some range to them. IE that I could strategically place some of them in position to control different racks of equipment. After reading up a bit it now seems like those eyes are meant to be placed directly onto the IR-recievers on different pieces of equipment. That's going to look like ass on my all Silver/gold finish stack of equipment. Does that mean the individual IR-eyes will only transmit IR-signals relevant to a single piece of equipment ignoring all else? Or would it be possible to have say 2 eyes pointing to a rack of 4 ir-recieving units and it would work?

Also, what kind of cable is to be used with equipment that has a remote-control input? mono 3.5 male-to-male? Is this an actual standard between brands?

I also saw that the Extender unit itself is supposed to work as an IR-blaster in itself. Any idea about Vertical and horizontal angles for coverage?

All this essential on how I set things up. I'm even considering the "place IR-eyes iside units"-solution at the moment...
Which I will need lots of extention-cables to achieve...

The RF extender is blasting IR quite well from my experience. See my post here (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=9680385&&#post9680385) for details.
