When I play certain movies on my A1, I notice some green vertical banding during scenes with a lot of gray or white. I tend to notice it on most movies, but it can get really bad on titles like Batman Begins, Corpse Bride and V for Vendetta. I'm using a 37" Sharp Aquos as my display. I'm wondering if this is the way the discs are manufactured or if it is my Display?

This is most likely your display. The Sharp Aquos line of LCD's are very well known to have VB issues. I recently purchased the 52" model for my bedroom and had to take it back three times due to severe VB. I finally gave up and went with the Westinghouse 47" which was half the price and puts out a very acceptable image, especially for a bedroom.
The only HD-DVD discs I remember seeing any type of VB on was the Import of First Blood: Rambo and Field of Dreams.

Oh, well that's good to know. Mainly because I'm taking it back anyway. It had a bunch of burnt out pixels when I bought it, but they didn't have any more in stock so they said that I could keep it and wait for the new ones.
I'm thinking now though that I'll go with a Panasonic TH42PX60 plasma. Better blacks, no banding, and bigger. Thanks for the info.
