Are the special features on HD DVD version of The Departed going to be the same as the ones on the 2 disc SD version? I looked on Amazon, and everything is the same, except that the SD version includes the TCM profile "Scorsese on Scorsese." Anyone know if the HD version will include this, as well as any other features not listed on Amazon?

Just watched this on SD damn good movie but I dont see myself getting HD version since this is a slow story base movie with maybe one special effect.

???

A flipper is a disc with the half of the movie on both sides. This was somewhat normal in the youth of DVD, 8-10 years ago.

This release is, NOT, a "flipper"

And if you have HD-DVD, why would you check the SD side?

I wonder why they aren't putting all the same special features on the HD DVD that are going on the special edition? Oh well.

So you base your moving buying on the film having special effects or not?

Special effect are not a requirement for great HD.

Is this going to be a dual layer combo?

Looks like the HD gets all the special features of the 2 disc version and the better artwork. If it wasn't a combo it would be perfect.

Well as far a a duel format disc (I won't use fliper any more I'm sorry)

I just don't like how they put the extras on the SD side. Sure they may be SD on the HD-DVD side but if I want to watch them i am able to right away I don't have to flip the disc to do so..

Although I only watch the extra with my favorite movie. (I've watched and heard all the Kevin smith stuff)

Cost was a factor but I've found amazon to fairly price them unlike most B&M stores that charge 10 bucks more..

But as far as the movie it looks really good I hope to pick this up along with hollywoodland and prehapps robin hood as I like to compare it to the costner and brooks versions....

Here's the back of the SD 2 disc @ DVDEmpire. Doesn't mention anything about "Scorsese on Scorsese". Amazon has been known from time to time to have incorrect special feature listings.

Actually the Scorsese on Scorsese feature is listed right there on the back. Too bad it wont be on the HD disc as this looks to be the best feature out of them all.

It appears that The Departed cannot be called a flipper no matter how you define it (flipping in the middle of a movie, or flipping for extras). There are no extras on the SD DVD side; everything is on the HD DVD side.

Hi

This is the first Warner's HD DVD where the movie plays straight from the WB logo/FBI warning - It hasn't got the forced HD promo, which you normally have to skip.

thanks
Davide

Probably because they don't want us reminded that we're still waiting for Harry Potter and The Matrix.

I imported Harry Potter Goblet of Fire. Good transfer + TrueHD!

The SD version is severely compressed.
