So the box in my wall that has my power in it I'm going to change it to a 4 gang box so I can have my internet, cable, speaker and AC power in it. I have every thing figured out except for the speaker wire connectors. These are the options I can find. Which is a better connector to go with? Are there any other ways of doing this? Or should I just run the wires through the box and straight to the receiver without even stopping?

Thanks

Gold is only for looks. Otherwise no opinion

When you go to buy the new four gang box you must buy one that is designed to separate low voltage (speaker wires etc) from power. You should never run power and low voltage wire into the same ordinary outlet box. Illegal and dangerous.

They sell dividers for that.

Well what 'daya know! ;) I've seen the boxes with dividers but never noticed that they were sold separately!

I think that which style is a matter of preference. Some do just run the wires with no intermediate connections- easiest, cheapest and most trouble free if you don't have a need to disconnect at the wall.

Banana jacks vs 5 way binding posts- metal vs plastic? Again a matter of preference. If you use 5-way posts you can make the connections by stripping the wire ends, using spade lugs or banana plugs. I think plastic is strong enough for most applications, but the metal looks better.

I have 4 boxes yet to wire and I plan on metal 5 way for two that show and straight through wire for two that will be more or less out of sight and high on the wall.

I have seen/used option #1. They provide poor connection unless these are of very high quality.

Option #2 generally works well.

Thanks for the info , I will take that into consideration.
