I'm in the middle of building my HT and realistically will not be finished for about 6 months. I was planning on ordering a VTF-3 HO this week but was wondering if I should hold off if something else is going to be coming out withing 6 months that I should wait for. I've been hearing that SVS is going to have a new line out. Other then just wanting to start getting my equipment together nothing is holding me back from waiting.

The VTF is an excellent sub but...if you are not ready to use the product, I think you would be doing yourself a serious injustice by purchasing anything electronic. That is unless you can get some deal that you can't pass up for some reason. Common sense dictates that in today's day and age of product lifecycles, 6 months is like 6 years with anything in consumer electronics. Not too mention most products have 30-45 day in home trials. If you don't like the way they sound or look or whatever you can return them. Why cheat yourself out of trying the product out in your environment??

Agree 100%. No reason to buy now - lots of reasons to wait.
Wait. Best to see what the marketplace will produce in the next 6 months, unless you get that killer deal as jmpst3 pointed out. Be patient! Patience has it's rewards.
Wait..... who knows what's on the horizon.

Exactly. 6 months is an awful long time. Lots of good stuff coming out over that period. Unless you get a smoking deal, or are going to use the HO in another room during that 6 months. Wait.

I have narrowed the process down to this....
Finish the room, then buy equip (trying to go with cash) as I go. I am buying speakers first, they seem to change the least over time, and are the most likely to go UP in price.
When I joined here last march, it took me a few months to narrow down which proj I would buy. By the time I figured that out Epson (was looking at a epson550) came out with a much better one for nearly $1000 less. Thank the lord I waited.
After speakers I will buy the receiver, then the projector and DVD player. It seems that you get more for less with the electronics, so waiting is the smartest move IMHO.

Thanks for the input, I'll hold off on my purchase.
