I was in Fry's Electronics in Dallas today and saw that they had the complete Discovery Atlas series available there. The boxes were cardboard and larger than the normal HD DVD size but otherwise looked nice. The price was less than $18 (I seem to remember $17.29 or similar).

Fry's also runs several of their HD DVDs on sale in different markets almost every weekend. This week, Fry's has Batman Begins on sale for 17.99 and Smallville for $55 in DFW. They also had Open Season on Blu-ray advertised but with no price -- it was $24.99. Other markets may have different sales, as I understand.

The HD DVD selection there was stellar -- they had lots of different releases, including newer ones/music titles, and many of these were $19.99. Didn't have Black Rain in HD DVD, though. Since they also have a good selection of BD, it is interesting and easy to compare the backs of the Warner and Paramount releases to see what is different in each case.

Fry's has been the best for HD-DVD and Blu-Ray in terms of price and selection for B&M stores.

Overall Amazon is the only one that beats them.

Same here in Phoenix... Thunderbird road location. Just two weeks ago it had an equal size for both sections. I'm wondering if its because they are selling Blu-Ray stock faster... I sure hope not. I want both formats to survive.

Funny thing is ive never seen anyone browse the BR section before and I am there atleast twice a week. I usually see 1 or 2 people a week looking at and picking up HD titles. The bay setup has been this way since October...so I doubt BR selling faster means a small bay, it would mean a bigger, more spaced out bay.

Truth is, the Fry's Electronics on Thunderbird is moving a ton of Blu-ray titles. I visit that location frequently and I see the titles one day and the next day they are gone. As sad as I am to admit that fact, it is true. The new BD titles are selling very rapidly. While HD DVD previously did well at that location, I think they got the post-holiday replenishment of stock and not much activity since. In the stores I frequent, HD DVD dropped the ball and Blu-ray has picked it up and ran with it. I have over 100 HD DVD discs in my library but I have nothing except for Hollywoodland to look forward to purchasing. I have made the decision to buy all dual-format titles on Blu-ray in the future because that is where I feel the momentum continues to develop.
