View Full Version : Spielberg NOT on HD DVD
joshd2012 02-05-07, 08:40 AM The inclusion in the January 29 update of our "Coming Soon List" of three Steven Spielberg classics was an error on our part. The HD DVD Promotion Group expresses sincere apologies to Steven Spielberg, Universal Studios Home Entertainment and HD DVD fans for this mistake. We will endeavor to prevent any similar mistake and to provide accurate information.

I guess Steven didn't like the fact that his movies were put on a list before he was asked.
Jeff Lampert 02-05-07, 09:03 AM Ouch!
DragonStar 02-05-07, 09:07 AM The fact that they have to say sorry, I think says a lot!
Bob Meridian 02-05-07, 09:13 AM The fact that they have to say sorry, I think says a lot!
It would make them look like fools if they didn’t.
They are just covering their arses.
Releasing Spielberg titles would make too much business sense. Can't have any of that.
Losing faith in HD DVD every day. Own about 40 titles and haven't bought a new one in a considerable amount of time because of sheer lack of content.
Heh, no loss for me, outside of JPIII and Jaws, I wouldn't be buying his other titles newayz...but I agree with his right in wanting to at least be informed of stuff like this BEFORE hand, doh!
DavidHir 02-05-07, 09:38 AM I was always very suspicious those mentioned titles would be out so soon.
Bob Meridian 02-05-07, 09:39 AM HD-DVDers are avoiding this thread like the plague. I wonder why?

becuase its nothing to be added if you want us to come here and start a flame war with bd guys well i think you need to post it in another area (BD forum)they love to fight overthere
HomerJay 02-05-07, 09:44 AM If this apology was prompted by Speilberg (and I'm sure his press agent had something to do with this) then all I can say is how nice it must be to be Speilberg...oh, to be a priss and a billionaire...
HorrorScope 02-05-07, 09:49 AM HD-DVDers are avoiding this thread like the plague. I wonder why?
What a whole hour into the original post? One word, classy.

Talking about fishing for a fight.
As somebody else has said, what else is there to say? The HD-DVD promotion group overstepped themselves, and they had to take it back and apologize.
Stevie76 02-05-07, 09:52 AM Dammit!!!
Adam_ME 02-05-07, 10:00 AM This won't help HD-DVD in the format war. That's one of the only things Universal has going for it is the Spielberg titles. If he's holding them up, there's not much else they can do to compete with the Blu-ray lineup.
soremekun 02-05-07, 10:03 AM Maybe they are in talks but the info was released a little too early.

Maybe they are too busy posting in the other thread about this.
It would make them look like fools if they didn’t.
Or, it would make them look like Sony.

joshd2012 02-05-07, 10:08 AM Settle down guys. I posted this as news, not to spark a battle thread (you can do that in the HD Software version of the thread). Let's just comment on the news, and not put any Blu-ray spin on this.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/show/Sony/Disc_Announcements/Sony_Brings_Identity,_Warriors_to_Blu-ray_Bumps_Marie_Antoinette/458 sony cant keep what they said its not the first time br  .
c.kingsley 02-05-07, 10:20 AM This Spielberg business is exactly the same reason why Star Wars is not coming to Blu Ray any time soon. Spielberg and Lucas are good friends. Neither will allow their titles to be released until a huge install base has been created. Give it 2-3 years at the least.
abr27440 02-05-07, 10:20 AM Get over it.
It was a mistake and was corrected quickly.
Move on
David Susilo 02-05-07, 10:35 AM I guess the HD Group now has to resort to passing out misinformation to the public in hopes some will buy into HD-DVD.
yeah, they learn that trick from the best in the industry, the BDA.
1loudsuv 02-05-07, 10:37 AM HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Mistake? It was deliberate deception!
They probably never would have changed the list if they weren’t called out on it.
Right now the HD Camp will do anything to get good press and that would include manufacturing false information.
