Hi All,
I bought a Pronto TSU 9600 and a companion wireless IR extender, and to say the least I am very unhappy with it. I got it from Dave D'Arche at Remotequest, who has been doing his damndest to get this thing working. Dave has been great throughout this whole experience and I have only good things to say about him.
The major problems started out with the wireless extender. This is an RF unit that is supposed to take the commands from the hand-held unit and send them to the equipment. The remote worked fine on RF, but the extender wasn't /isn't capable of sending the macros to the equipment. To be fair, the problem has only been with my preamp, an Audio Research Ref3. Turns out that Audio research uses a set of remote commands developed by Pronto. Dave has tried everything to fix, to no avail. Finally, I had the AR put back on IR commands with everything else going via the extender. Worked great! For 3 days. Then the remote stopped sending ANY commands. I've had to reboot it every 2 days for it to work. There may be a problem with the log file, but of course the sequence of buttons to access this file and delete it doesn't work.
To sum this up, this remote and extender are the usual "not ready but we'll sell it anyway to our unwitting and unwilling Beta testers." crapola.

I've been running both my ARC MP-1 and Ref3 (side by side in my rack) plus three source componets from on rf extender, and my pj and lights from a second one. I got the hex code sheets from Leonard at ARC (who was very helpful as always) and used the built-in code generator in the Pronto program.

I too have had trouble with macros so have set everything up with separate commands and menus. Once in a while I'll have to put in a command more than once, but I've got to tell you, the thing works pretty darn good. This is no small feat because the MP-1 and Ref3 share a number codes. The mute code is exactly the same for both devices. However, feeding each pre from a separate port, I can control them both reliably, along with everything else, from the Pronto.

Maybe you have a defective extender. I would say give this thing a chance. I was frustrated with it for the first week or so, but now that I have it programmed well, it works great. I really like to use it and like the look of it. I even have photos of the local country club as the background for my menus.

Good luck! Hope you can solve your issues.

Hi,
I plan to send both pieces back to the programmer. I really want them to work.

It operates very smoothly in my setup. If you can get past the bugs, and I'm pretty sure you will, I think you will end up thinking it was all worth it.
