This has probably already been discussed, but I couldn't find it using the search. I have a new HK TC30 (same as Harmony) and here's the problem I am having. I have a "Watch Tivo" activity which turns on the TV and receiver and switches them to the proper inputs. The TV and receiver have discrete power and input commands. Sometimes the TV or receiver do not get set to the proper input but the remote "thinks" they are set properly. Is there anyway to "force" the remote to send the switch input command regardless of whether it thinks it needs to? This would allow you to simply press the "Watch Tivo" activity again to sync things up.

I know about the help key, but that seems like a pain to have to cycle through all the help screens. I have used several universal remotes before including the pronto and various OFA/Radio Shack shack models. They all work exactly as intended (i.e. you simply press the appropriate button again if things get out of sync). The remote is trying to be too smart. I just want it to do what I tell it. I spoke to customer support and they said it couldn't be done, but I don't think the guy I spoke with knew the product that well. Thanks.

Jay

Are you sure the remote is actually set to use the discrete commands? If it is, it should work exactly as you described(at least it does with a Harmony...I would think the HK should be the same).

Check under "power options" and "Adjust inputs" to make sure it is set to use discretes(select "One button for ON, and a seperate button for OFF", and "I go directly to the input I want").

Even if a re-press of the activity button doesn't re-send the discretes(which it should), then a single press of the "Help" button definitely will. The first press of the "Help" button re-sends all discretes for the current activity without answering any questions. The question and answer bit is only for devices that don't have discretes

Call customer service. I had the same problem. Turns out the solution is simple, more simple than I expected. I could try to tell you what to do, but your CSR will correct it for you. All you will have to do is update and then give it a try. ( while your on the phone with CSR)

Thanks for the response. I think you may be correct. I haven't fully resolved the issue yet but after doing some additional testing I've discovered that the remote was always sending the discrete inputs commands for the TV but not for the receiver. The problems appears to be with the database entry for my HK AVR240 receiver. I was using the default device setting for my receiver. I even went through adjust input process. It still didn't work. I then created a couple of new inputs (MyInput 1 and MyInput 2) and learned the commands from my original remote. Now it appears that the remote is sending the proper input command for the receiver every time. I'm beginning to wonder how accurate the Harmony/HK database is. I also had problems with my Samsung HLR4677W TV initially. The database had the component inputs reversed. To switch to component 1 you had to tell it to use component 2 and to switch to component 2 you had to tell it to use component 1. I'll have to do a little more experimenting to be sure, but it seems like it's working the way I want. Thanks again.
