Last week I bought an LG 50"PC3D at a local retailer for a hair under $1800.00.
I never really considered an LG because I thought they have been a little over priced, and that this company is AKA Goldstar. I also never considered plasma until now.

The colors, blacks, viewing angle and fast moving action are all really great aspects of plasma. But it was also the price that kept me away until I saw this one at the price I got it for. It was this or the 50" Panasonic, but I played around with the LG's remote, and got a good picture out of it at the store. The Panasonic had a little sharper picture, but the backgrounds had a little much noise for me. And to be fair I really did not want to stretch my budget any further.

I got it home and got around to calibrating it for my Denon 2200, Xbox 360 and the HD-DVD add-on along with HD signal. First off I noticed the HD signal was far better than the stores (no surprise), but far better than I thought period. Second of all, standard DVD's look much better on my LG plasma than on the 50" 720p LCD projection sets from Sony and Hitachi that I just took back. Also HD-DVD movies and 360 games are beautiful!

What is great about this set is the 60,000 hour life, standard 2 year parts and labor, a white wash feature that removes any image retention left over from playing video games, I got the up-dated one with 2 HDMI's and of course the price.

This thread could have been just a post on some other thread, but I don't care. I wanted my OPINION front and center, because I'm very happy to be in the plasma world with you.

Welcome to our little club! Now, have you paid the $500.00 non-negotiable entry fee to each of us on here?

Relax, its only a one time deal. No need for annual dues afterwards.

In fact, if you're short on cheques, just write mine out on a factory sealed box containing a Samsung 60" HDTV plasma and send it to:

"We Be Taken",
49 Snowplow Way,
Upper Rubber Boot,
North West Territories, CANADA.

It'll get here, no worries. Heck, if after writing all those checks you feel a bit strapped, you can send that box postage due. I'll let it slide this one time:)
