What is the difference here?

I have finally decided to go pio plasma...i will just be careful with the burn in and set the turn off feature.

I just need to know the diff between the two sets.

Can't wait to see my PS3 on this bad boy!!!

Is plasma concepts a good brand...[EDIT]-- i just want to make sure I am not losing something by not getting the 5071

The 5071 is only sold by BB and has an extra little remote which most consider worthless. That's the only difference. Do a search if you want to get answers to most anything, including Plasma Concepts.

BTW, plasma concepts is not a brand, it is a store ;)

i know it is a store :)

I just wanted to know if that was a good deal for around [EDIT] delivered and if they were reputable

I had good luck buying my last system through people on the forums and wanted to keep the business through the people who help me do the reseach if possible.

If you do a forum search for them you will find a few hits. If you want reliable forum sponsors with good prices, Cleveland plasma, Invision Displays, and Plasma Concepts seem to be very good with customer service.

Plasma concepts is great. I got my 5070 from them called them monday last week and they got it to me on thursday in plenty of time for the game.

Most of the forum sponsors are great. I would order from any of them in a second.

The only thing you will lose if you get the 5071 from BB is about $800  [EDIT]. Although I didnt go with the 5070 [EDIT]

I got my Pio 5070 from plasmaconcepts, and they are a great company to buy from. Do not hesitate from ordering from them, they will treat you 1st class.
Good luck with your purchase.

I have many of my clients asking regarding the differences between the two. And the 71 does come with an extra remote which I have seen and its nothing special. I actually asked a BB employee once and they said the 71 was a newer model which is false. The main reason BB has the 5071 is to distinguish their sales from the competition.

Here's a pic of the extra "Simplified remote control unit" from the manual....as stated, nothing special but exactly a simplified remote.

i laughed when the salesman at bb couldnt figure why the pioneers would always go into stand-by mode

When I was shopping around I went to BB and was told by the manger at Magnolia, the only reason that they have their TV was named 5071 and not the standard 5070 number was that when people bought it from them and then come back a week later with a printed add from some where else with a cheaper price they wouldn't have to honor it because it's a different number for the same TV

Just what I was told

That is correct. BB is one of pioneers biggest dealers for Pioneer plasma displays, so Pioneer gave them their own model numbers in order to allow them to avoid price matching unless they want to, (well that and you get the little remote above...I don't think I have ever used it once).
