Hey, I just finished mounting my set on the wall and now I'm wondering what to do next. I know that I can't use the factory settings, and until DVE comes out on HD DVD, I'm stuck with a really old Avia disk.
What settings should I be using for the 100 hour break in period? Do I even need to do that? What is the reason for that? Is there anything else I should know about this set? Sorry if these questions have already been asked, but I tried searching and came up with nothing.
Unfortunately I'm at school now, and haven't really looked at the set for more than five minutes. The end of the day can't come soon enough!

Break-in is recommended even though the jury is still out on its actual results. Me and many other plasma owners feel it is worth it so we went ahead and followed the break-in suggestions.
Here goes:
For the first 100 hours, change the TV main setting from Vivid to Standard or Cinema. Then, drop the Picture setting to the center or zero. Do the same with the Brightness setting. The Color and Tint should also be zeroed but you camn mess with these as you like.
Try and stay with ONLY full screen content for the first 100 hours. That means NO 4:3 shows with sidebars, avoid 2.35:1 movies with bars on the top and botton unless you Zoom them which I dont recommend anyways. Basically, stick with true HD feeds like Discovery HD theatre or HDNet which will always fill the screen. Thats waht you want.... filled-up screen! If you do watch a 4:3 show then stretch it to fill the screen. If you do any movies, try and stick with 1.85:1 movies or 1.78:1 movies which will fill the screen.
Once you hit the 100 hour mark, then you can try a calibration disc. Or, start with my TH42PX60U settings which are calibrated and seem to work well:
Mode: Standard
Picture: +12
Brightness: +7
Color: -7
Tint: -4
Sharpness: -7
Black Level: Light
All other enhancements: OFF
Hope that gets you started.... :)
