View Full Version : Burn-in, White verticals, and such

Have a 3-week old Samsung HP-S4253 plasma with Comcast digital DVR. During our then-unknown-about 100-hour burn in period, we watched quite a bit of SD programming (maybe 50% of the time). We then noticed vertical shaded areas when we switched over to something light-colored (like a hockey game). These areas coincided directly with the black vertical bars around our SD image. (The most noticeable area was a few pixels wide right at the edges of the SD image where the picture seemed to be very bright.)

Since that time, we actually had a very productive conversation with Comcast (believe it or not), who aided us in setting up stretch mode for SD channels. The lighter areas also disappeared - apparently entirely - over the course of the next few days.

Question is this: Now that we have passed our burn-in period, we would kind of like to go back to watching SD without the stretch mode, but obviously will live with it if the alternative is damaging the screen.

Suggestions?

Thanks in advance,
