I'm trying to understand what pc graphics resolutions are appropriate/possible on my Samsung HL-R6167 720P TV. The manual lists resolutions supported from pc such as 1280x720 and 1920x1080. I'm currently running my pc graphics resolution at 1280x720. I don't think the pc graphics card I'm using at the moment can go any higher.
I'm building a new pc for htpc and gaming and am interested in the Nvidia G80 series cards (probably a GTS). I know these can run very high resolutions (1600x1200, 2048x1536, 2560x1600 etc) and I wondered if there's any reason or if it's even possible to run any of these higher resolutions for purposes of running some of the latest games displayed to my TV.
Would the answer be any different for one of the newer 1080P TVs?
