The 58" and 65" models were previously announced in the U.S. for January and March release, but the 70" is new. Hope we see that state-side as well.

I'm encouraged to see the 70" size. Where did you see this announced, and do you have a link? The model numbers do not match the JVC announcement for January (HD-58S998) or March (HD-65S998). Also June would be well after these scheduled releases, although the January release is still a no-show. Since the JVC announcement from Dec 14th doesn't specify the US when talking about the xxS998 models, I am wondering if the sets you are describing could be follow-on models with better performance. At some point, the new LCOS panels and wire grid polarizers of the front projection HD1 / RS1 will find their way into rear projectors. It would be very cool if these models had the new optical engine, with its 15,000:1 native (no iris) contrast ratio. "DynaPix HD Plus" sounds new, whatever that is.

swirvan,

The 58" should be showing up any day now in the U.S.; the 65" version is slated for March.

At some point, the new LCOS panels and wire grid polarizers of the front projection HD1 / RS1 will find their way into rear projectors. It would be very cool if these models had the new optical engine, with its 15,000:1 native (no iris) contrast ratio..I contacted JVC two weeks ago and they suggested no RPTVs would offer this technology in 2007. It would certainly be nice if they did, it would make my choice a lot easier...

Thanks for the feedback... so it looks as though only minor optical engine improvements for 2007 (although they are already great sets, and the Slim cabinet is very innovative). The 70" revelation is significant, though. I am wavering between the RS-1 front projector and the 65" slim. If the 70" was to reach the US not long after the 65", that might sway things. If the two models are now three for worldwide release, JVC should announce this.
