Hey everyone, please give me input upon the following system that I will be putting in a new '07 Toyota 4-Runner:
Head Unit - Alpine CDA-9885 (~Feb 28, 2007)
Head Unit HD Radio - Alpine TUA-T500HD
Head Unit Bluetooth - Alpine KCE-300BT
Amplifier - Zapco Reference 1000.4 (Powering all speakers including subwoofers)
Speakers Front - MB Quart 6.5" Premium PCE-216 Component
Speakers Rear - MB Quart 6.5" Discus DKF-116
Subwoofers - 2 JL Audio 10w3v3
Steering Wheel Volume Control - PAC SWI-ALP
Alarm - DEI Viper 3002 2-Way LED Responder
I know the head unit isn't out yet, but what about speakers and pure sound capability? I am looking for a mature sounding system...

Alpine are nice units, have you looked at the new Pioneers? I prefer their displays over the Alpines. I guess I should wait to see both side by side.
How much are the MB Quarts?

You'll be very happy with the MB Quarts. Sounds like a very good system.

Are you running the front and rear speaks of the same 2 amp channels? You will not be able to fade or have your front speakers louder than the rear(which you want for soundstage) and you could probably get away with 1 much better 10" sub with the same output level of bass only requiring more power. Maybe change to a highend 10" and get a powerful Class D amp to power the sub. And go with a little smaller 4 channel for you fronts and rears. I would stick with the alpine head unit or maybe go eclipse. Nothing wrong with Pioneer premier either.

I have looked at Pioneers. The major difference is the pre-amp voltage. Alpine offers 4v, and Pioneers range between 2v and 2.5v. I've been told that the higher voltage the better (I don't know if someone is able to explain the reasoning behind that, but I took their word for it).
I think I am paying $370 for the MB Quart front speakers, and around $120 for the rear speakers.

They are doing some sort of "parallel" setup where all speakers, including the subwoofers are going to run off of the Zapco 1000.4. The fronts will get more power.
I'm looking for really tight bass, and at the same time get the whole spectrum of high bass and low bass. Has anyone heard the 10w3v3's?
Bluetooth and HD Radio are big for me, this knocks out the Eclipse (I'd have to add a Parrot, and a $400 HD Radio add-on), and Pioneer doesn't even offer HD radio yet as far as I know.

The 10w3s should sound great. I've used 12w3s and 15w3s before. Only ran the 12s sealed and they sounded good with just about everything except tough LOW bass.
As for the preout voltage, the higher the voltage the cleaner the signal. I know of some decks that advetise 4 volts out but when measured are only .8. With the higher voltage you don't have to turn the gain on the amps as high, thus cleaner sound.
I'm about to swap out my Panasonic in-dash dvd h/u for an Eclipse CD5000. The Eclipse has 8 volt preouts. I used to use an Eclipse 8443 a few years back and that is still the best sounding h/u I've ever had. Just wish Eclipse in-dash dvd units weren't so stripped down and the fact that they force you to buy so many add-ons is ridiculous. Had my heart set on an AVN5500, but they didn't seem to put any thought in on the audio side of that and similiar units.

Yea, someone really just needs to come out with an integrated HD Radio and Bluetooth that is reasonably priced. If they can't fit it in a single-din, fit it in a double-din! For less than $1000 it's well worth it.

10w3s are great woofers, the alpine stuff would be great too, I prefer JL component speakers to just about anything else withe the exception of Focal Utopia's, Diamond Audio however also makes some nice sounding Component speakers...Quarts always seemed to have a harsh tweeter to me
