Sorry if this has been addressed before. Why won't the PS3 recognize digital photo JPGs & mp3 music files I put on a USB 2.0 flash/pen drive? It recognizes the drive, but says "No files found" when I look under Music & Photo. Do you need to have them in some special format?

Gotta press triangle and go to "Display All"

Ah! Thanks, I'll try that.
You can also can set up the file structure so that it will show them without having to select Display All.
On the root of the device/memory stick create a folder called MUSIC and one called PICTURE. That's what the PS3 needs to see them right off the bat.

Does anyone know if the PS3 will acknowledge sub-directories within the MUSIC folder?
It shows the folders, but I have a problem where it then doesn't show any tracks inside them. It just says "no tracks found". Not sure if it's a format or file-extension problem or what...? A lot of my library is AAC (.M4A) format (iTunes), but most of it is .MP3 (192 VBR or better).
In the end, I still have to use "Display All" to see my music files.
Does anyone know if the PS3 will acknowledge sub-directories within the MUSIC folder? From what I understand you have to use individually albums. ie. Album Folder>Tracks
NOT Artist Folder >Album Folder >Tracks.
I copied a lot of my music over from iTunes as well. But made sure in the root MUSIC folder there are only album folders.

Worked for me for mp3's in a MUSIC folder, but not a PHOTOS or PHOTO folder for JPGs. I had to choose 'Display All'. My digicam JPGs look great though.
I had to check out why that wasn't working for you. The folder name actually has to be PICTURE. I gave the wrong folder name up above. I've corrected my earlier post. I had to check the file structure on my PSP. If you have pictures on a PSP they show up right away when it is hooked up to the PS3. I then tried using the same folder name "PICTURE" on a USB memory stick and they show up right away. Hope that clears everything up.
