Sound card question

I have a good Pioneer receiver, so will be running digital from sound card to receiver. Anyways, since I am using a receiver, does that mean it will do the processing that an otherwise more expensive sound card would do?

Debating whether I should get an xfi card or stay with my old audigy.

The receiver will do decoding and "sound field" processing.

If you want the specific features of the X-Fi (and especially the EAX support) then you have to get the X-Fi -- a receiver does not implement EAX.
