I just recently purchased a Sony Bravia KDL-46XBR3 lcd video monitor, and I very much want to have it professionally calibrated by someone who is a certified ISF-trained technician.

After much inquiry, I was astonished to find that in and near Chicago there is no one available or qualified to do this job (in the third-largest metropolitan area in the country, no less!). The closest person I could locate is Doug Weil, of Clearly Resolved Image & Sound, in St. Louis, Missouri. He is willing to travel to Chicago but needs at least one additional customer to make his trip economically viable and his travel fee reasonable for me and the one other person he’s been able to line up so far.

Although his available dates for making his trip are currently up in the air, he told me that he would most likely travel to the Chicago area within the next two weeks, provided that at least one more person signs on to have him do a calibration. Therefore, if anyone in the Greater Chicago region wishes to have his/her video monitor professionally and thoroughly calibrated by Doug Weil, please contact him directly at 1-314-495-2993, or private-message his AVS mailbox, which is DroptheRemote.

I hope that one or more of you in or near Chicago will be interested in taking part.

Sincerely,

Eric Talbot

I might be wrong, but isn't Craig Rounds (aka craigr) based in Chicago? He was in N. Carolina, then moved, I thought, to Chicago.

He's quite an expert on most sets.

Yes- CraigR is in Chicago..and there is another guy who is involved with ISF or use to be called Jim Burns..

There are plenty of guys who travel through the Chicago area, one being www.avical.com - Eliab is the calibrator name.

Jim teaches and is involved with Runco's video certification program. He is in NYC, even though his cell is from Chicago.

I highly recommend Eliab @ avical.

I happen to be in the Chicago area (Aurora), and can calibrate that device- and I'm fairly certain there are at least a couple other people in the area that could do it as well.

Hello Eric,

I believe Doug "Droptheremote" is making a trip up to Chicago this weekend? He is suppose to drop by my place in Bloomington this weekend, have you heard anything different?

Thanks,

Mike

Eliab from Avical just left my house 2 hrs ago. He just finished calibrating my pioneer pro 530hd.Great job. He does travel , I was only 1/2 an hr from him.
My picture quality is 100% better, and he xplains step by step everything he is doing.

Eric,

Did you get your Sony LCD calibrated this weekend? What are your thoughts...

Doug(droptheremote) made it to my place today(Sunday), and calibrated my Panny 8UK plasma with awesome results! I really didn't see a whole lot of difference at first until I was really watching it more, all I can say is, WOW!! I thought the picture was great before, but now it's absolutely stunning!

I'd like to say thank you to Doug Weil, of Clearly Resolved Image & Sound, in St. Louis, Missouri. This guy is great, and he will talk you through each step of the way. I highly recommend him to anyone in the area.

Thanks again,

Mike
