Hey all.

What do you feel is the better 5.1 system for about $1000 give or take a few hundred:

AVS system (x-cs or x-ls)

-or-

SVS (sbs-01)

-or-

Ascend (170's or 340's)

-or-

Polk (HERE IS THE DEAL: These are gorgeous speakers! For $1000 I could get a pair of RTi6's with a CSi5 center, a BIC H-100 sub and some cheaper rears)

Big question: FOR THOSE THAT HAVE HEARD AT LEAST 2 OF THESE:

Are the 3 ID brands above better (I know it's subjective and I want your opinion) than the Polk system I mentioned?

If the polks listed are on the same level for SQ as the ID brands I will go with the Polks because I can pick them up locally and they are WAY better looking.

I think you all know what I am getting at.

If your going to use this system for over 50% movies then music. I say go with the SVS system for best bang for the buck. If this is a music first system? Ascend 340's as mains I would choose, with a SVS sub.

I think you mean AV123...correct?

The X-Series has won numerous awards over the last couple months...including product of the year! I would take a look at those as they are a great looking and sounding speaker...

If possible, I would try to audition each of them in your house...I know AV123 has a no risk audition policy...take advantage of it! :cool:

If you have heard the Polk system (inlcuding the RTi8 towers which I heard tonight as well as the others listed.), do you feel that the AV123's or SVS system etc are better for SQ?

Today I heard the CSi5 center, the RTi8 towers and the RTi6 bookshelves. I think it all sounded really good and I love their look as well. If the ID speaker options are a significant upgrade in SQ for the same price I want to know about it.

Or, if it is more of a preference thing between the Polks and the ID brands in this range because they are all on a similar performance level then I will get the polks.

I have not auditioned the AV123 X-series (Yet). but have the others. I would choose the Polk's if you can get "CSi5 center, the RTi8 towers, and the RTi6 bookshelves" all for under $1000.

I of course can't get them all for that price. I wish though :D

Those are just the ones I heard today.

But, since you have heard all but the AV123's, are the Polks I listed as good overall in terms of SQ compared to the Ascends and the SVS?
