RLJ fans might be interested in the 2-disc release of her new album. Disk 1 is a hybrid with a 5.1 SACD layer and a stereo CD layer; disk 2 is a DVD with video content plus mp3's of the entire album.

Here it is on Amazon:

RLJ is not to everyone's taste, and her new-found spirituality may turn off some existing fans (while perhaps attracting others), but in my opinion as a long-time fan, it's a terrific album, her best work in years.

I bought it & haven't been able to sit all the way through it.Definitely not what I expected. She always had slick arrangements with top notch players. This isn't the case with this new disc.Maybe if they would have tuned the guitars before the recorded it I might enjoy it more.
I haven't tried the dvd yet though.

I'm a Rickie fan but had a hard time following to the places she's gone but I like her experimentation and risks she takes. I enjoyed some of Ghostyhead. I listened to pieces of the new disc online, undecided.

She seems kinda bitter about her pop success?, but she had 3 or 4 'pop' releases that were brilliant IMO.

She performed on Letterman this week. I watched it a few times and just do not get her anymore. I was a fan for years and saw her live, but she's just gone out there in La-La land now. I don't get it.... She also has some goffy musicians IMO. Not my cup of tea.....

BTW, If you want a full dose of RLJ, she'll be performing on an upcoming SoundStage on PBS tomorrow night 2/22.

Rmassey, did you watch her last night? How was she? The PBS showing with her is tonight at 11 PM.

If I get a chance (meaning I don't fall asleep or my son forces me to watch a dvd he is bringing over tonight), I plan on watching it.

I did watch RLJ on soundstage. It had a few good moments, but overall I cannot get past her recent choice of musicians. She did some solo piano to start the show and that was nice. She still has tons of vocal talent IMO, it's just her delivery of the material in a semi bazaar manner, mediocre musicians and the strange interaction with the audience that turns me off. She has also let herself go physically and this is rather hard to watch at times. She could at least have chosen a better outfit for preforming to a national audience IMO. The white prison gown really did not work well IMO.... all trivial in the whole scheme of things but it's just the little things that make a performance stand out and be well received.

I thought the show was good. She can still deliver the older songs with interest, not just run thru them. Her voice was great IMO, Coolsville was a let down tho. The new songs kept my interest. Her older live CD, 'Naked Songs' has amazing renditions of her early to mid stuff..

Just picked-up this 2-disc set, it's different but good. Moreover, I think the SACD mix is not bad. Another [new] SACD addition to the world.

I saw her perform live a couple years ago. It wasn't the worst concert I've seen, but it ranked pretty high.

Actually, the more I listen to this new material I like it.............
