Hey - looking to kill a weekend and was curious what your opinions were for the best co-op games out there? I already have Gears and I've played Marvel: Ultimate Alliance already. Any other suggestions?

I have a lot of fun playing Rainbow Six Vegas in Co-op. Lego Star Wars II is a pretty decent co-op, but there is camera issue in co-op that kind of hinders gameplay on occasion.

+1 for Rainbow Six Vegas. With use of 45"+ screen its very easy to play.

Any co-op games where all players are on the same screen, like Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows?

maybe I was playing it wrong, but don't you lose the story elements of the game when playing Rainbow 6: Vegas co-op? I played the beginning of it with a couple friends and nobody was talking to us or telling us what we were supposed to do.

I'd recommend Gears of War for co-op. I also hear that the upcoming game Crackdown is supposed to have great co-op. You can check out the co-op in the downloadable Crackdown demo to get a taste for what it'll be like.

Is RSV coop similar to GOW where it is the full single player campaign in coop mode or is it like GRAW where it is a seperate smaller campaign?

Do you guys play local co-op vertically or horizontally? What I mean is, how is the screen divided, with a line going horizontal or vertical? I ask this because when I played with a friend on co-op horizontally it sucked. I couldn't see properly. Is there a way to change this?

I have yet to see a 360 co op game that allows you to choose the way the screen splits (though I haven't played them all). Some games change this depending on the aspect ratio chosen for the console, but most just split it horizontally and there's no changing it. You just have to get used to the way it compresses the screen.

mentho,

You can play the Crackdown demo co op? I thought I tried that and was denied. What do you have to do to get that working?

What I would like to see for split screen is an option with our larger TV's is to be able to setup the screen in 1/4's but only use 2 of them for coop (diagonal from one another). The other 2 quarters would go unused. Why? It would be a bit smaller but it would keep the aspect ration in-tact for each screen. No matter vert or horiz split screen I always feel cramped and uneasy. But using 1/4's you get the same aspect as you would full screen. On a 37" widescreen those two quarter windows would be like a 19" monitor for each, which imo isn't that bad at all. Put it on a projector and your still pimping with style.

On RB6:V, local co-op is split vertically. if three people are playing, the third guy gets a horizontal screen.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance is very good for Co-Op mode.

Since the last post was in 2007, there has got to be some new games out that have fun Co-Op campaign options! Anyone care to add theirs?

My buddy and I are almost done playing RE5 (aside from a few game play annoyances we are absolutely loving it!), before that we played Gears 2.

Left 4 Dead, Castle Crashers and Army of Two spring to mind.

I'm sure there are tons more that people will chime in with, but that's what popped into my head.

Whe you say co-op do you mean local coop or online coop? I think Wikipedia has a list of coop games http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_cooperative_games_for_the_Xbox_360

This list may not be complete but it is a starting point, as Halo Wars has coop play and Undertow has 4 player coop, as is Eragon (2 player coop local), and the DDR games that come to me off the top of my head that are missing from that list.

I meant online co-op. Thanks for posting that link!

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned halo 3 yet. Then again, it's been out for a long time at this point. Still, I'm on my 3rd playthrough and doing it co-op keeps things fun.

My Bro and I have been playing Saints Row 2 on co-op non-stop lately, loads of fun.

Army of 2 is another co-op game I've been meaning to try out.

Not sure what kindof game you're looking for, but in my house the co-op game with the most playtime is Rock Band 2, but admittedly that's not the type of game people usually mean when they say "co-op" even though it is a co-op game.

Funny. I just googled that wiki this weekend. After playing RE5 coop, I'm trying to convince a friend to get a 360. I'm hoping to play L4D, GoW, GoW2, and Halo 3 coop with him. Maybe even Saints Row.

Mercenaries 2 was a lot of fun when playing co-op. Single player? Not so much.

Yes Halo3. And of course one of the best coop games ever is Halo 1. I played it several times with different friends and all the times it was a blast.

Isn't Halo offline coop only?

Silly question - can someone explain to me the draw of rainbow six vegas co-op? The wiki says:

Coop levels are kind of disjointed in that all the dialog from the single player is missing.

Which on the surface, doesn't sound like a ton of fun to me. However, I haven't played the game at all, which leads me to believe that there's something I'm missing...

Vegas 2 is a much better co-op game than Vegas 1. All dialogue is present, nothing is different in terms of story.

COD4 playing against people in a party is a stretch but always a lot of fun :)

Crackdown Co-op is online with no split screen or System link only and as far as I know there is no co-op in the demo. I love it though and still play it on occasion. Rocket tag baby!!! lol

For the OP...I was going to type out all my games that I have played co-op with and what kind of co-op it had but after doing a few I figured it was too much work. So I just decided to post the link to the wiki...

My favs are Crackdown, AO2, Halo 3, GRAW, GRAW2, RB6V, RB6V2, SCDA, Burnout Paradise, GTA4, GOW, GOW2 and Bionic Commando

Great thanks for explaining that! I'll probably pick up Vegas 2 at some point then.

It's not co-op where you actually go through the game as you would in SP, seamlessly moving map after map. That may be what they're referencing to.

However, it truly is a great co-op game to play. I enjoyed it's SP, but the co-op is significantly more fun, especially if you put it on "realistic". It has two co-op modes (the story version, which has your co-op teammate join you and 2 NPCs in an in-game SP map) or Terrorist Hunt, in which only you and your co-op buddy are in.

You can find it for cheap these days, pick up a copy and enjoy!

** whoops - I was referring to LV2. I'm not sure about LV1"

On a side note, does anyone here have any experience with GRAW2 co-op? My buddy and I are slowly getting through LV2 Terrorist Hunt, and we're looking for another cheaper military style co-op game to play.

My brother and I have been re-visiting GRAW2 on co-op.

You have 6 missions that can be played co-op (actually up to 8 players I believe)
We've been trying to get those co-op achievements for getting a perfect, Which is obtaining all objectives as well as no players being eliminated.
Its turning out to be lots of fun while being extremely challenging at the same time.

There are also 2 download packages that you can buy that add an extra 8 co-op missions to the fun.

I've seen GRAW2 on the cheap these days, shouldn't be more than 10 or 20 bucks
