View Full Version : Question about Multiple 360's?

I am looking for a HD LCD for the bedroom and my kids playroom. As soon as I figure out which one to buy I will probably be adding at least 1 more 360 and possibly 2 (If I decide not to a PS3). I have a couple questions for those that have multiple 360's in your home.

1) Can you share a Xbox Live Gold membership across multiple 360's? I realize you may not be able to use all 3 of them at the same time.

2) Can I use my same gamertag on multiple boxes regardless of the answer to question #1? I don't mind paying for a second account if I need to, but I want to use the same gamertag no matter which box I am playing on.

3) Is there any interference with wireless controllers? Since I had to sync the controllers when I first turned them on I assume they are mated to that 360 until I sync them to another box, however what happens when I have 2 boxes on at the same time with upto 6 controllers on (3 each)?

4) I use XP and WMP to share photos and videos to my 360, is there any issues with sharing to multiple 360's?

I guess if most of these concerns are going to be problems for me then I may buy a PS3 for and only 1 more 360.

1) You can have one account on all 3 360's.

2)You can use that same gamertag on all 3 360's. You just have to make sure of a couple things when doing 1). Disable auto-sign on when you turn on a 360. Otherwise if you are one 360 with your live account, and somebody turns on another 360 and it auto-signs onto live with your same account, you will immediately be booted out of whatever game you were playing.

What you will want to do is have auto-sign on disabled. Then whatever 360 you decide to play on, you just select which account you want to sign onto live with.

3)There shouldn't be a problem as that is why you have to press a button on the 360 and the controller. It allows you to have multiple 360's but have those particular controllers to stay synced to that one 360.

4)Good luck with this. I can't get one 360 to stay synced with my PC thru MCE.

1) You can kinda 'share' a live membership by putting your gamer tag info on a memory card in the controller I think

2) You can switch xboxs using same gamer tag as described above, but can't be simultaneously signed in with same tag... You could have name1, name2, name3...etc...

3) You might want to set up multiple gamertags on each box, so each controller can sign into a specific tag, rather than just doing normal multiplayer by pressing start (probably won't have this option when playing xbox live - could be an issue in that case?)

4) Should be fine... so long as you set your network correctly...

I do #1 as poohead describes. all my save games and xbox live gamertag go on a memory card-i move the card to whichever box I;m going to use. I also have silver memberships on two of the three-so you can download stuff w/o moving the memorycard.

Having multiple 360s is no problem with MCE-don't know aabout windows media connect.

I have 3 360's and put gold profiles (2) each on their memory card so they are interechangeable.

Controllers stay synched to the last Xbox you synched to unless you put the controller back into sync mode (push the sync button). In that case it will re-sych to whatever 360 you put in the sync mode at the same time. No problem.

The 360's network with window media connect just like pc's share on a network so there is no issue with putting the 360's on the same network and sharing media.

Multiplayer and coop games on a LAN with multiple 360's and hd displays along with use of the headphones, priceless ;)

I have two 360s on my network but I must have something set incorrectly. Both work correctly on Live and System Link. My problem is, whenever I switch boxes to play Live, I have to recover my Game Tag. This happens even if the other box is off. I can log onto Live repeatedly, without having to recover my Game Tag, as long as I don’t switch 360s. The hard drive appears to record the last login. I can play Live on the second box, without recovering my Game Tag, only if I switch hard drives.

You should put your Gamertag on a memory card and move the memory card between systems to do this without going through a recovery.
