Yes, I'm in my early 30's...
yes, I loved them in my childhood...
I always dreamed of a good Transformers video game....
I think I just soiled myself.

If it is close to the last one on PS2 it could be decent.

What the hell is so fascinating about devices using mutual inductance to increase or decrease AC voltages and currents in circuits? Criminy, it's not like the fate of the planet rides on Faraday's law or anything. I would think we'd look to something more fascinating than utility poles to find a source of entertainment, but I guess nothing surprises me any more.

Anyone remember the PC game it was like a board game type style. I played that all the time when I was a kid.

I haven't played a game based on a movie IPO that I though was good in ages, the exception being LOTR BFME2. I hope this Transformers is good as I loved the cartoon and toys when I was a kid

I was big into Transformers as a kid, but from what I've seen of the trailers the movie looks nothing like the Transformers I loved. I don't expect that a game based on it will be all that great either.

Really good games take long periods of time to develop. Chances are this will be another rushed movie IPO game which will be a multiplatform mess for nexr gen owners---look at superman.

With all due respect to the movie, that is probably going to be cool if you go into it NOT expecting to hear things like "AUTOBOTS, ROLL OUT!" and the reincarnated voice of Scatman Cruthers doing the voice of Jazz.......any Transformers game they make would likely be
a whole lot better based on the original property.

Which would probably mean cell shading, and none of those games ever did very well.

I have mixed feelings about the movie as well. It has more of a 'Independence Day' or 'Terminator' feel to it rather than the show we grew up with. Of course I'll go see it but I will go in with low expectations and hope to be pleasantly surprised.

LOL... the irony is that the optimus voiceover will be the same guy who did optimus in the origional series. Apparently he was asked to audition due to some serious fan-boy campaigning or something like that. On the Transformers movie website they have example clips of him saying phrases that the community voted on. I believe one of the phrases is close to your quote.

Wokisan I totally agree with your assesment of the trailer... it looks almost exactly like ID4. I guess in that vein, I'd have to ask myself "Did I enjoy ID4?" and the answer for me is a resounding yes... but man that is a very different feel than the 80's stuff for sure.

In somewhat related news, I got to be an extra in this flick (one of about 20 bedouin villagers whose village is attacked by Scorponok), so I'm a bit hyped for this one, even though I know it will slaughter the series I loved so much as a child.

My lord this game is frustrating. The main characters are cars (mostly) and the driving is just SOOOO bad. I'm trying to do the missions in the Dam but it's so frustrating because you wind up driving into walls.

game was pretty cool transforming, but I got what achievements I could get from it and returned it.

Yep. Same problem I had. The controls are horrible in this game.

That and when you hit another car you might fly back 50ft or something else ridiculous.

Hmm... while the game wasn't worthy of my soiled pants, I humbly disagree that it had control issues. The problems I had with the game were mostly design issues, like the fact that your weapons could only destroy drones. Had someone gave me this game in 1990, it probably would've went down into my top list of all time favorites... but... well it's not 1990 so I (and we) have become accustomed to a much higher standard of interactivity in gaming.

The game was fun though, once you realize it's more of a robot wrestling game, and you still get pretty good graphics combined with nice transformations. I finished the Autobot campaign but barely started the Decepticon one, which is what most reviewers said was most fun so maybe I should put Halo 3 down for a while and finish it. :)

Peace,
