View Full Version : Mediagate MD350HD problem
pspindo 02-09-07, 10:35 PM Dear all,
I just purchased a Mediagate MD350HD and I have several problems as outlined below.
I think it works great when I plug in my USB key there. But in the middle of the movie, the movie it's skipping. Is it normal?
Secondly, I don't know how to setup the wireless.
I have shared my folder in my computer, and then I can view it in the TV that the folder is there (my computer name is there plus the folder name).
Then when I entered the folder, I can see all files there.
However whenever I played the file, it says that "either the file does not exist or the file type is not supported".
Does anyone have this problem as well?
I thought it's a problem with Wireless, but I have turned off all the wireless setting (eg. WPA), except the MAC protection.
I also tried with Wired LAN instead of Wireless and still have the same problem. :(
For the same file that I've chosen, if I copy the file to the USB and plug in there, the movie plays well.
It's really puzzling me. :(
I would really appreciate if you could help me on this.
Thank you very much.
I'm very stressed with this matter now... :(

I also tried with a JPG file instead of a movie file, and it's said
"Either the file does not exist or the memory is not enough" or something along this line... :(
Please help...
For your information, I'm using Windows XP SP2.
I have turned on the Guest account with no password (I verified this by logging in with Guest and just pressed Enter).
I read from another forum saying that I have to specify each folder with the setting for Guest, but I have no idea how to do that... :(
Please help.. many thanks.
the bartender 02-09-07, 11:52 PM what firmware are you using?

I've just installed the latest firmware 1.1.1 beta that's downloadable from the web.
thank you.

ChessKing 02-10-07, 01:23 AM I have also had problems playing some files wirelessly and get the same error you get as well. I then put the files on the internal HDD and they play back fine.
I also have other files which playback fine over wireless. I am still trying to work out why this is happening.

Thanks.. this is really weird.
I have no success at all with any files over the wired/wireless.
There is a good tutorial here:
http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=800186&highlight=mediagate
but it's not working for me as well.
FYI: I'm using Windows XP media centre.
I guess this is a matter of setting the security properties, but I'm not too sure what's going on. That's Guest stuff may have stuffed up... :(
Please let me know if there is anyone who knows how to solve it.
Thanks.

Would you let me know which files that you have been success with and which are not?
I have tried both for low quality AVI (divx) and high quality but with no success on both :(
really unfortunate.... :(
Also, which firmware are you using?
Can anyone explain how to get the stream works well step by step please? The book is not clear at all. :(
Regards,
pspindo 02-10-07, 05:24 AM I've tried everything that I could think of, but no success. :(
If anyone could help me to let me know what are the steps to get the streaming running in Windows XP (including what are the security properties for the shared folder, what is the account that needs to be turned on, etc.) that would be really much appreciated.
Thank you... I am really desperate :(
pspindo 02-10-07, 06:34 PM I solved it already....
I used the Event viewer to see what's going on... :)
Thanks guys.
ChessKing 02-10-07, 06:39 PM Was it a permissions problem or something else that prevented you from playing those files? Can you tell me what you saw in the event log as well.

You can use the event viewer to see what's going on precisely at the time of failure. In my case, my firewall blocks the connection and now, I've given it the correct exception and everything works fine.
I have tested with many files, including JPG, AVI (divx) and MP3 and all of them work fine. The movies include the high definition movies and low resolution as well - I don't see any hickups at all - so I'm very satisfied right now ....
Which type of files are troubling you?

ChessKing 02-11-07, 01:41 AM I've actually just worked out my problem it was file permissions that prevented me from playing them.
Great to hear you finally got it working.

That's great that finally you also got it working!
So there is no problem with this device!
