Looking for the Same. My projector is from October 2006. Probably 1.06 firmware. Iīm looking to update do 1.08 because I have had problems wiht Flicker. See below:

"Just bought my AX-100. 18 hours now. I donīt know if itīs my country energy problem (Brazil), but letīs try to explain. I turned on the projector. After 1 minute, a small brightness variation happening fast and assincronous. As it flicker in a non regular time. Some times it stop. After some seconds or minutes, start again. Similar as I change the brightness modes, but in a fast way.

I donīt know how to explain better. I have a Panamax voltage regulator.

----------

I had this problem too, I havent used my projector much since but doesnt seem to do it when using it in normal lamp mode. I was using Eco-mode and notcied it .

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

While watching House on my PJ last night, I noticed the brightness stepping up and down at random intervals. At first I thought it was the iris, but that was disproven after turning it off had no effect. I remember reading on this thread that turning the projector on Normal mode for a little while, and then back to eco-mode will alleviate the problem, so I turned it onto Normal for 30 minutes. When I went back to Eco-mode, the flickering effect did not return for the rest of the night.

Who here has had this issue, and managed to resolve it using this trick? Has your projector been "healed", or has the flickering returned at any point? It's very strange that my projector comes out of the box with color non-uniformity, and after 40 hours that problem completely goes away, only to be replaced by flickering. We'll see, but so far, I am having much better luck with this projector than my 4805, which had to go back to the factory twice before I got a unit that didn't flicker or go red on component

It seems that being into projectors is a little like a lovers' relationship. Can't live with em, can't live without em.
------------
What is your firmware version & Build date? Flicker was fixed with 1.08.

Appreciate coments. Thank you.
Alex

IT's in a hidden menu.

"You can check the Firmware version. While projector is on , push power button to enter the "shutdown menu" then arrow left, arrow up, arrow down, arrow up, arrow down + enter."

Just don't make any changes to anything in that menu. ;)

Someone will probably post the link to the authoritative answer to this, but in the meantime I'll give the exec summary explanation. The lamps in our projectors strike an arc between two electrodes. As the electrodes "burn", at times the arc will become unstable and develop a pattern of shifting between two points on the electrodes. This is the "flicker" that you see. Running the lamp on high for several hours will usually burn through whatever is causing the unstable arc, thus eliminating the flicker. This happens with the lamps in all of our projectors and should be considered normal.

Dear jack. Thank you for your explantion. I had an Infocus 4805 (DLP) that didnīt have it. I listened in another places that the problem is my actual firmware 1.06 and I need to update do 1.08. But Iīm from Brazil and to do that will be extremaly difficult.

So if your explanation is correct, I really will be much more confortable in doing what you sugested me.

Thanks if do you coment it...
