Hello

I was wondering what kind of door would you recommend in my HT.I have a standard interior door but it doesn t cut it.I looked at a metal exterior door (shed door)or would a interior acoustique door be the best?

Do a Exterior Solid core door, with Weather Stripping all around, and a threshold at the bottom, to ensure a tight seal.

Ugly. I am looking into a solid masonite 2 1/4" door. Then you can weather strip it on your own. At least it doesn't look like an outside door.

I just installed a solid core interior door (oak). I haven't finished the room yet though, so I don't know how well it's going to block sound.

Have them install a soid core interior door with weather stripping and a threshold. That's what we did, and when stained, the door looked excellent. Soundproofing with the weather stripping and threshold works geat as well.

Out of curiosity, what are each of you paying for your doors with weather stripping and threshold?

Should I get interior or exterior?

Thanks,
Guy

ccapozzoli,

Was this a safe-n-sound door?

our 3 solid core stain grade poplar doors with weather stripping and thresholds were $1200. This was for 2, 34" doors and 1, 36" door. Went with a local custom supplier that was recommended by a home builder...so I think we paid a little more for them, but quality was outstanding.

All i know is the company that makes these doors is called Premdor and there are in France or something. Most of our local Renovation centers except Home Depot carry this door. The look is beautiful and they are filled with masonite particals to make them acoustic, lots of different models availible.

All have a look on web to see if i can t fnd any specs or pictures.

Yes, he is talking of the safe-and sound doors if it is Premdor. I am also at this stage and noticed that Premdor has exterior doors that come in a curved top 2 panel and other styles that look like interior doors, but are solid exterior units. I think I will go that route as they should be even more solid than the interior versions.
