hello,

i archived some material on my windows pc from OTA via a fusionHDTv card on my pc. I am attempting to record it to my jvc 30k player but for some reason it wants to record in STD mode and when I playback on my hdtv it shows half the screen green and the other half with bars on it.

I used HDTV2mpeg to convert from .tp to .ts. then used TStoAtsc to get it up to the atsc standard bitrate. everytime i try capDVHS or DVHSTool, it goes to STD instead of HS.

how can i get it to record in HS or is it just the 30k deck that is messing up? I checked the thread "firewire recording nightmare" in this forum but could not get the answer. thanks.

Push the HS button to force the deck into HS mode.

i did but then after capdvhs or dvhstool controls the dvhs and starts recording it switches to STD mode

Have you tried unplugging the JVC for 10 minutes or so and trying it again? I've had some strange JVC problems (no channel is displayed in any mode) that got corrected by "rebooting" the vcr system (unplugging it and making sure the residual power gets bled off). Hope it works for you. Electronics are great until they screw up, then they're the MOST frustrating thing around (we normal people can't trouble shoot and can only try to restart the damned thing).
