For a while there were number of rampant rumors but I don't see anyone event talking about it anymore. Just wondering if I missed something.

Supposedly the new black 360 with the 120Gb HDD is supposed to have it... but of course, it's just rumours.

I still think a 360 with HDMI is coming sooner or later, but people seem to think that MS will hold a giant press conference, followed by a release party, a parade and a national holiday. I think, if it happens, MS may release it with little fanfare.

From now on I'm demanding $.05 every time somebody asks about the goddamned HDMI with the 360 blah blah blah. By the time it comes out, if ever, I'll be rich enough to buy everyone on here who hasn't asked about it a new 360. Since that'll include me and maybe two other guys, I guess I'll have millions left over as well.

The manufacture date on that 360 is september 2005...

Remember that Microsoft has produced over 10M 360s yet has only (reportedly) sold through 5-7M of those. They have cut production for the time being. Let's add 1+1...

Since production is slowed/stopped temporarily, it is a ripe time for MS to switch around the design. This isn't a certainly, but I'm hoping that they add HDMI to the new consoles when they need to ramp production back up again.

They would never tell us about a forthcoming HDMI version, because that might slow sales in the channel which has a current supply surplus. My guess is that the current 360s will see a price drop when they are ready to ramp up with the Zephyrs. The new HDMI Xboxes with 120 GB drives will likely retail for $400 (keeping the new Premium 360 still less than the PS3).

This is all conjecture on my part, but it does make good business sense for MS. They need to take the wind out of the Wii's sails, all the while keeping Sony at bay. A reduced price non-HDMI version and a premium HDMI version might co-exist nicely.

If there is a price drop, it is only after Sony does. MS has no reason to cut its price at the moment.

If there is a new HDMI Xbox, I expect it for $500 unless there is a PS3 price cut.

:D ... this is hilarious, but a bit painful at the same time. I'm one of the Pollyanna's who dream of HDMI for the 360, and entertain fleeting hopes that it will somehow come into fruition. You'd probably have about $2.50 towards your fund from my mentions of HDMI here :o .... having said that, I'll close with ibtl ;)
