I have been capturing HD .ts streams from my moto 6208 and d-vhs decks to my xp laptop. Generally, I have no problems. I capture the stream and run it through Mpeg2Repair to look for an errors. For some reason, I occasionally get bad captures. Usually, a series of 2-3 minutes of constant errors. At first, I thought it was the original source (the recording on my DVR or D-VHS tapes), but after recording the same stream again, I will get a good capture. In other words, it is not a problem with the original source material. So, I thought to turn off my virus software, my wireless card, and even shut down all of my external USB hard-drives. I can think of no other applications that are running that might cause conflicting issues. The firewire cable is the same one I have used for years, and has never posed a problem.
The firewire controller is a Texas Insruments OHCI Compliant, with the latest available drivers from Microsoft (version 5.1.2535.0 7/1/2001). Destination Hard Drive is defragmented, and only 20% full. CapDVHS is the latest verson 0.3.0.6. I have all the latest Microsoft Updates, and it is a brand new Clevo laptop. I doubt the problem is my my Moto 6208, as I have occasionally gotten bad results transporting material from my JVC30K to my laptop.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
