My 360 power supply brick is making a very loud screeching noise when the console is turned on. You can hear it over the TV with the volume cranked. I have several local friends with 360s (including a roommate with one). None of them have this issue. It annoys the hell out of me, and annoyed my friends who heard it. I imagine the fan inside is going bad.
I'm going to exchange everything at Costco and get a new bundle. How do I transfer my Xbox Live ID? Any help is appreciated.

should just connect it and choose recover gamertag on the main dash.
I have seen threads in the past suggesting just keep the hard drive. Costo's return policy is supposed to be good anyway. I would either buy the new one swap the hard drive and then return it or just ask at the store if htey will let you swap it. This way you get to keep your saved games too. Would suck to lose all of that too just for a defective power brick.

I'll give it a shot. I agree it would be a shame to lose everything over a defective brick (I have a lot of content on the HD). I wish Microsoft would just replace the damn thing under warranty. They don't want to because it still lights up green and still allows the 360 to run.
