Thank God I got $20 off my bill on Dish for 10 months. This PQ sucks the bag as usual. ESPN-2HD actually looks better than ESPN-HD now. Dunno if the realplayer type blurred screen images still exist. Mosquito images and the usual visual pixels moving on the basketball floor.

PQ on TWC in Lincoln, NE looks pretty darn good.
In our area Charter is the only cable company.

I think we are back to the same ol' crapola from ESPN. I'm watching on E* as well.
I started this thread to that regard a couple days ago.

The PQ of this game looked pretty good on Cox cable phoenix. Definitely better than the football games last fall.

Why does ESPN and ESPN2 do so few basketball games in HD on Saturday?

Walt Disney Company mandated cutbacks. Despite the overwhelming success of Monday Night Football, the current fiscal climate at ESPN is pretty tight. I think if the money was there you'd see more HD - it's not that they don't want to do it, but with the upcoming Nascar eating up a large chunk of the FY 07 budget, lesser sports with lower ratings suffer. This is likely to continue -- at least until next year's budget comes out. I never understood the corporate mentality of growth by cutting back (like trimming a tree), I feel sometimes all the shareholders care about is the bottom line, even if the product sucks. And of course the executives are focused on the bottom line as well for their job security. You can see countless examples of this throughout the company, but its not specific to Disney. You'll find this atmosphere throughout the entertainment industry. When you have number crunchers, not entertainment people running entertainment companies you're bound to end up with problems.
Watched it via D* and didn't think it was all that bad. On the other hand, the WVU-UCLA game on CBS ( via OTA Houston ) was stunning. Best PQ of a BB game that I have ever seen !! No sub-channels up during the game.

The PQ was not the best on seen on ESPN-HD, as the colors seemed slightly washed out. Watched via Cox cable.
Of course, I had previously watched CBS golf from Pebble Beach OTA, so just about anything would have paled in comparison.

i watched the WVU game first too and felt the same way about the UK v UF game.... it was a HUGE drop off in PQ. CBS's presentation from morgantown was top notch. one of the best college bball games PQ-wise (and outcome!) that i've seen in a while. the bottom line seemed abnormally distracting... i don't understand why ESPN insists on having that thing on the screen 24/7. what happened to the 08/58 bottom line?

Appreciate your insider view, but I think that it has been proven time after time that quality trumps cost-savings. The certain path to failure is trying to save money at the expense of quality. Few would disagree that CBS leads everybody in high quality sports productions in HD -- a sad story for ESPN.
