Can a new TVIX 5000 unit still be purchased in the USA? DigitalConnection says you can order one but never says whether it is in stock or not.
Has anyone ordered one recently and recieved it?
The TVIX 4000 is not an option because of all of the current issues....I am sure they will be worked out eventually...but too buggy for now.
If the green speckle issue does not bite me than the TVIX 5000 looks to be the best bet...provided it can actually be purchased!

We plan to carry the item again once the HDTV tuner is available as an add-on, otherwise it did not make sense to offer virtually the same product at a higher price.
I believe the most obvious issue with the networking has been resolved, we have yet to receive reports of this issue on the new shipment, and the fix the the old shipment was a simple EPROM replacement.
What are "all the current issues" with the 4000?
I'm in England where the 5000 is available. I'm trying to decide between the 4000, the 5000, and waiting for an even newer model (5010?).

Thank you for the reply and the very helpful explanation. I think I will put the TVIX 4000 back on the short list of NMP. I need to make my purchase in the very near future.
Kei, will the add on tuner also support clear QAM or only ATSC. (QAM is much more reliable than OTA in general and you dont have to worry about droupouts, CRC, TEI, Continuity errors like OTA)
Will there be an EPG using the PSIP data or pulled off the internet?
Can you schedule recurring recordings, say every Thursday night on ABC at 8:00-9:00 PM?
Also when will the tuner be avaliable to purchase. I need 2 please.

qz3fwd,
The tuner only supports ATSC, I don't know if there are any plans to offer QAM.
Unfortunately, I have not tested the tuner, but you maybe able to get more information from TPeterson by PMing him as he is beta testing. Unforutunately, I do not know when they plan to finish the project, I hear that they are concentrating on DVB-T tuner first before they move onto the ATSC version.
