Arrgghh......all the articles have been saying "March", and while April 3rd is not that much longer, I was holding out hope for an early March release.

Oh well........maybe I'll work off some of the backlog in the meantime.......

You can pre-order it on costco.com for $79.99, on there it says available March 27.

lol, quite a dilemma we have here, costco says march 27, and the developers at red octane say April 3rd.... who should we believe? LOL... i love costco, i can get it before it comes out, and for 10 bucks cheaper!

and i'm not making fun of you mastahkaz, i'm making fun of costco

i also heard that red octane would ship a couple days prior, so that you can get it by the 3rd, not sure if that's true.

Last weekend i learned that the 360 would be releasing GH2. I promptly packed up everything PS2 related and traded it in at GameStop. I got very good trade in value on everything i had.

Then i purchased a 360 and Gears of War. Cant wait for GH2 on the 360 !

for real... GH2 and katamari are the only reasons i have a ps2 still. that and my wife for DDR. so maybe i wont be getting rid of the ps2, but it definitely wont see much use (wife is pregnant now)

and we should be able to get all the GH1 tracks on XBL!

we may be able to get the tracks but how much are they going to charge us for them? :(

The only thing I really don't like is that I read there will be no playing over xbox live. I really hope this is not true...

Heck, I'm willing to pay $40-50 for the Guitar Hero I tracks. I've been holding out for the X360 version, and I would hate to miss the tracks from the first game. And if they ever produced these to include the practice features from GH II.... <Disco_Stu_voice> Aeeey!! </Disco_Stu_voice> :)

As for the Xbox live co-op, the developers looked into including this, but found it to be darn near impossible. Think about how the game is set up. The response time from your actions with the guitar going to the PS2 to the television is crucial to feeling like you are playing a guitar. If you throw in having to wait for data to be sent over the internet, your response time is wrecked if you are trying to synchronize two players' guitars. I certainly wouldn't discourage them from looking into possible solutions to this problem, though.

Theres probably 10 songs from GH1 that I would love to have for GH2.

It would be AWSOME if they made all the tracks DVDA 5.1 quality but I doubt that would happen :(

Nothing. I would definitely be bummed if I bought wired and they came out with wireless soon after.

I've never played the original GH game so I am going to be getting this one for sure. It looks like a blast and the song selection looks pretty good. I was a bit bummed they didn't have more Hairband music on it :D Time to go do the preorder at Redoctane and thanks for that post.

I read an interview with the producers and they wanted to make the guitar wireless, but MS still won't release it's Wireless codes to 3rd Parties they want to hold the propietary Wireless controller buisness, so blame MS

It's just that I'd love to be able to put the xbox260 in my media closet and be able to play wirelessly in any room of the house.

Hopefully MS will change their tune.

John

PS. Does any other gaming platform have a wireless remote?

Do you mean for GH? I believe the wireless PS2 guitars are out now, or in the works.

100% correct. That is also conformed in the latest OXM with GHII on the cover. MS just doesn't let their wireless stuff go easily.

And March 27 is the date I heard too.

I don't know if anyone else but me will find this interesting, but...

Today I got "We Must Obey", the new album from Fu Manchu. On the front is a sticker that says "Includes the single 'Hung Out To Dry', as heard in GUITAR HERO 2"

This song isn't in the the main set list, bonus tracks or 360 exclusive tracks. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guitar_Hero_II#Main_setlist)

Could this be a hint at a future downloadable track..? Or at the very least, a hidden bonus track?

It's an awesome song, nonetheless!

Thanks for the link.

I read this

"While the other songs are covers, both "Dead!" and "Possum Kingdom" are listed as "master tracks."

and wondered what are "master tracks"? Maybe performed by the original artist?

yes, as far as i know ALL BONUS TRACKS are by the original artist, not covers. while all the main setlist tracks are covers. Xbox Live downloads can be originals OR covers. the ones listed as "master tracks" are originals.

Could this be a hint at a future downloadable track..? Or at the very least, a hidden bonus track?

"Additionally, 2 exclusive unlockable bonus songs will be included with the Xbox 360 version"

-----------------------------
downloadable tracks available at release time include:

Original Artists: (AKA Master Tracks)
"Dead!" - My Chemical Romance
"Possum Kingdom" - Toadies

Cover Songs:
"Hush" - Deep Purple
"Billion Dollar Babies" - Alice Cooper
"Salvation" - Rancid
"Rock and Roll Hoochie Koo" - Rick Derringer
"Life Wasted" - Pearl Jam
"The Trooper" - Iron Maiden
"Drink Up" - Ounce of Self
"Kicked to the Curb" - Noble Rot

and eventually most, if not all GH1 tracks will be on live for download.

and for those who were wondering about playing via live. it's still "probable" i know there will be some limitations as to how this will go down (because of conneciton and latency issues) but i think they'll figure something out, like you'll see the other players notes and stuff on screen, but it might not be completely accurate, and after the "battle" a true winner will be announced or something along those lines.

Just a note, but there is one original in GH2. Primus was the only one to allow them to use their studio masters.

gameplay and interview video

http://www.gametrailers.com/player.php?r=1&type=wmv&id=17208

few things mentioned in the interview.

online multiplayer is a no at launch, they want it to be perfect if/when it does happen.

harmonix is out, neversoft is in, could be good or bad for the game.

more and more artists understand the concept and are fans of the game, this means there will be more (if not all) master tracks in the future. where before GH1, explaining the plastic guitar sounded kind of stupid to some bands, and wouldnt release master tracks, etc.

neversoft said nothing is broken, so it wont change drastically, but there will be some interesting added content, etc. but the basic gameplay wont change.

wireless is still being worked on, MS has a tight lock on it, and they cant say they'll have wireless by launch, but they are working hard on it.

red octane reads all the forums, considers all readers suggestions, etc. many ideas will be incorporated in the future.

in the end, the franchise will go anywhere the fans are willing to take it.

until rock and roll is dead (yea, like that will ever happen) red octane isnt going to stop.

sounds like the series will be around for a long while. this is very good news, to me the gameplay doesnt get old, even if the songs slightly do. and with xbox live that shouldnt be a factor with new song downloads coming frequently, and costing "less than a cd single"

Actully Jane's addiction gave up masters at the last minute so there's two master tracks.

I think it must be. Hadn't heard that before, just the Primus masters.

The 360 has 2 more studio masters as well: Possum Kingdom by Toadies and Dead! by My Chemical Romance

Nope the ps2 version is blatantly a master track plus Dave Navarro did a small promo tour of game signings when it came out.

Are you sure? It's been a while, but I'm remembering a rather poor cover of "Stop" -- not at all like the one off Ritual De Lo Habitual.

...maybe it was just my sucky playing that ruined the song. :p

I've read a few places it's Janes and it's in the credit of the game as Jane's. More was said about Primus because it was the first master announced and folks were hoping for more masters with part 2. (at least this is what I've discovered this morning crusing around forums)

I stand corrected... I just played Guitar Hero 2 PS2 version and "Stop" is the Jane's Addiction version. I don't know how I missed that.

I can't wait to rock out to the 360 version!!! :D
