Hello All,
First post and hopefully can get the info I need. I live in Dallas and just moved into a new house(5500square feet) with a dedicated movie room(no light issues)
Room measurements 13 across 20 depth 10 foot ceiling. I have a rack that will be on front wall 31" high. I would like to put up a 103 to 106" picture. All other parameters are changeable ie. chairs, projector placement, etc. I bought a sony Ruby 100 and have just realized by all these posts that screens are crucial. I sense that the Da-Lite and Stewart are two top contenders with the Stewart being almost double in dough!!!

I am hoping you Guru's can guide me as to which way to go screenwise and where everything should sit relative to screen. Also, have not seen mention of HDMI cables as I will need 25-30 ft. Am told that Audioquest is a great long run cable.
One additional, i have to run an extension cord from the projector to the front on the room to an APC-S15 power conditioner. Any ideas on a 25-30 foot extension cord with no line degredation.

Welcome,
Cable is easy. Monoprice, a forum sponsor has very fine cables at a great price. Saved your money for use elsewhere.

I had a Da-lite and switched to Stewart for my new HT. Stewart is a thicker material, there is no back reflection from the wall behind the screen. With Da-lite you need to treat the wall. Thw border and angle of the trim around the Stewart prevents light spill off the screen from the Ruby.

If you run to a conditioner, why not try a heavy gauge extension or run some Romex?

Dave

which particular Stewart screen would you suggest??

Are they THAT much better for the price difference??

Why don't you contact our AVS forum sponsors e.g. Jason and ask him to send you some screen samples? Then you can try for yourself.

Crucial for your screen selection will also be the amount of ambient light: the darker the room/walls the lower gain you can get by. The 2 very popular Stewart screens are the Studiotek and the Firehawk. Both have a comparatively low gain of approx. 1.3, as opposed to 2.x of the Dalite HighPower. The pros/cons of those screens paired with a Ruby have been discussed in great detail. Just use the search function and you will find them.
