I have a Benq 8700 with a single long run HDMI cable to the DVI-I input. With a direct connection from the Oppo 981HD to the Benq, 480P, 720P and 1080i all work just fine (the 8700 does not support 1080P). I tried to install a Monoprice 5:1 HDMI switch this weekend and the Benq cannot lock onto any format signal from the Oppo. However, the HD signal from my Motorola HD cable PVR comes through just fine. I've checked the cables, and reconnected the Oppo directly to the projector, cycling through the HDMI settings just to make certain the Benq is detecting the format okay, and it is. I'm out of tricks, anyone have any ideas? Will post this also in the forum for HDMI switches and DVD players. Thanks.

I've started a new thread solely about the Monoprice 5:1 HDMI switch problem with the Oppo since the replies indicate it is a problem not related to the Benq 8700.
It is at

One of my guys at work has been going through this problem for months. He's on his 4th switch box, this time from gefen (the 6x2) which is something like a 600$+ switcher. He ended up having to send it to them and they put in a modified something (a mini chip of some type, i can't quite recall) to get it to work with everything (he currently has 5 hdmi sources including the oppo.
He's been dealing with this forever trying to get it to line up through a HDMI extender from both audioquest and gefen.
