Hi,

My first post, and hopefully not too amateur.
I have an older receiver which I am soon to replace but I have an Oppo970 arriving in the next couple of days. I have searched these forums extensively and I'm pretty sure it has the necessary inputs to play SACD but would like some confirmation. Here is a link to the Kenwood receiver: Kenwood-VR-405. If it does indeed have the correct inputs how can I tell which of the various red/white inputs are the correct ones?

Sorry, I can't post a proper url for the receiver until after 5 posts

Happy to be here,

Ryan.

You will be able to play SACDs in stereo, but not in 5.1, because your AVR does not have a 5.1 analog input. The Oppo can output the MCH on analog or HDMI but not on coax/optical digital.

Hi,

Thanks for the quick response.
So if I had a receiver with HDMI I could plug from the Oppo to the AVR with the same results as the analog cables? Is one better that another? If I then wanted to plug the Oppo into my HDTV would I need an HDMI switch?

Thanks,

Ryan

Or a receiver with HDMI switching?
