I have been looking at getting a media server for my bedroom and even tried out the DLink DSM-520 some time ago.
I am wondering what people's opinions are in terms of picture quality from these devices. I have heard musings here and on other forums that claim that the PixelMagic MB 100 is better than the others. Their audio DACs certainly seem to be of a high quality (from advertising).
Which ones can truly render an HD image from an HD video source? Also, extremely important for my usage scenario, what kind of scaling/deinterlacing are these boxes capable of? Any info on upcoming generation of devices based on chips which can handle H.264 would also be appreciated (such as DLink DSM-750).
As comparison, my reference gig is an HTPC which is using FFDShow for playback of (mostly) H.264 content on a 720p front projection system (hooked up via DVI/HDMI).
