really, i just want some technical specs that i haven't been able to find elsewhere.

what is the typical bitrate and resolution of a hd program? i'm thinking something like lost or 24 and perhaps some sporting games.

and what's the 8300hd's recording bitrate and resolution as far as hd programming goes? is it able to fully capture the hd stream?

i read in another post in another thread that it was not able to. will it?

thanks.

Its a digital recorder, and records the broadcast as-is without any recompression (as that would require a high-def mpeg2 encoder inside the stb).

So whatever bitrate its broadcast at, is the recording bitrate. Probably somewhere between 12-24mbps. Depends on your area, cable provider, blah blah. And yes, it 'fully captures the hd stream'.

thanks for verifying that. it would suck if i had to watch a recorded hd show in "sub"-hd just because i couldn't watch it live.
