I noticed the first two Seal albums have been released in the US as CD + DVD-editions.

Does anyone know whether they include advanced resolution surround sound or just DD and/or DTS?

According to Amazon there is an advanced resolution stereo track but it's unclear as to the surround track.

I have the greatest hits Seals DVD-A and it is in hi-res. I think they are all hi-res MCH.

And I highly recommend the greatest hits package as it is one of the better values that you will find. Not only are all tracks in hi rez multi channel, but all of the acoustic versions of his hits are given the same treatment (and some of these are better than the originals IMHO). Add in videos and you have one of the best deals around. I would love to have many more artists and labels do this. Oh, and you get a redbook cd for you car as well.

The acoustic versions don't quite get the same treatment - they're 44.1/24, rather then 88.2/24. Not that I'm complaining.

The remaining SEAL CD+DVD sets (in addition to the HITS which has already been stated as being HiRez) are DVD-Audio HiRez, although I think there might be a special package that is CD+DVD Video as well on one of them.

Just received the first Seal (1991), Deluxe Edition.

It does indeed feature high resolution surround sound on the DVDA (96khz/24-bit).

Very nice digipak containing the CD, DVDA and a booklet. Now all I have to do is check out sound quality, and wait for the other Deluxe Edition (Seal 1994) to arrive...

I just found a brand-new copy of Seal IV DVD-A, it's very nice-sounding. Has Advanced Resolution Surround (88.2kHz/24-bit), and Advanced Resolution Stereo (88.2kHz/24-bit).

Also, claims to have Dolby Digital & DTS 5.1, however, can't seem to find DTS 5.1 .

I have now received Seal 1994 as well and had a chance to listen to both.

Seal 1991 sounds great in surround with the exception of "Crazy" and "Future Love Paradise" which lack "oomph" in the bass area. The hi-rez stereo track provides the necessary bass for these, however. Tracks 7, 8 and 9 are amazing in surround!

As for Seal 1994 this also sounds great in surround, but a couple of tracks are preferable in stereo.

I prefer buying complete albums instead of compilations, and for anyone who feels the same and are fans of Seal I'd say these two deluxe editions are must-haves, with nice-looking packaging, hi-rez surround and stereo and several videos and remixes.

PS I also own Seal IV DVDA and recommend it as well.

I just got the best of on DVD-A and have to agree, this is one of the most value packed discs I own - not only for the features, but the mixes are fantastic too...
