View Full Version : Upgrade SACD player?

I have been enjoying multichannel music - SACD and DVD-A for about a year now with my Denon 2910. It has introduced me to a wonderful world of music of which I knew nothing previously.

I'm thinking about whether or not I'll really notice a difference with a better SACD player, and if so, what a good choice might be.

My system is "decent" I suppose - mirage stuff up front, polk towers in back, all driven by separate monoblocks, and two big SVS subs.

I wonder what I would do about DVD-A, I listen to a lot of them, too and whether another combo player would really be a smart idea (or not). I do not have another set of multichannel inputs on my pre, but guess I could find a switch (yech).

Your ideas and thoughts appreciated, as well as any ideas on a brand/model that I might find appealing.

Thanks.

I think it would take a hefty investment to make notable difference in your sound quality (just my opinion).

If you need to upgrade DVD the Oppo 970 and 981 units do it all, and are reasonable priced. they can send both DVD-A and SACD 5.1 hi-res via hdmi if your receiver is capable.
