There was an article about it in one of the magazines. They said it is shaping up to be THE Star Wars game. They said you would finally be able to see what real force powers can do and that you would feel like a real Jedi. Sounded sweet.

Rogue Squadron 360, would be nice. Maybe when they get through making their little dragon game :) .

I wouldn't get too excited over what you saw in that video... that was basically a pre-visualization done by a LucasArts internal team that showed what kind of potential there would be for a next-gen Star Wars game. TMK there's no actual game code involved, nor are any gameplay elements confirmed to be intact. The end product will probably be vastly different.

Finally we get to kick some Stormtrooper ass with the force! :)

Parade rainer! We can dream can't we?

You're probably right though.

Does the fact that there are no actual screen shots or demos with in-game action lead anyone else to believe that there's no way this will be released by November 2007?

That video is old, I think I saw that sometime last year....early on I believe. As the posters said, its just a concept video, not actual gameplay, and was basically "look what a cool Jedi ass-kicking game we could make".

The tech demo for the Euphoria Engine and DMM (which the game will use) looks pretty solid:

2006 Euphoria Engine and DMM demo (sound is out of sync) (http://www.videosift.com/video/Euphoria-physics-engine-GC-2006-demo)

The new Indiana Jones game will use this technology, there are screens up on the Lucas Arts website:

I could see them keeping quite about the star wars game. I guess I want to believe!

Now that is a good idea.. tossing storm troopers around would be fun for a while.

This game could be really sweet! I can imagine Psi-Ops style gameplay with HD graphics. I'd love to be able to pull off some of the jedi tricks I saw in the Clone Wars cartoons.

I'd be happy with another Republic Commando and KOTOR (and I hate RPG's.) RC was awesome with a little more development and power that could be a great sequel.

Interesting. I actually didn't like Commando that much. (KOTOR, however, is tied with Oblivion and Ocarina of Time as the greatest games I have ever played.) It was much too short and pretty boring as far as squad-based tacticals are concerned. I guess I feel like if it has the Star Wars name on it, I want a compelling story to go with the game play. Commando was worthless from that aspect.

They should give Commando to Ubisoft and get the RB6/GRAW treatment. The post before yours about a little more dev time is spot on.

this actually sounds fairly similar to the episode 3 game, but with amazing graphics and physics. episode 3 was somewhat overlooked, but it was in my opinion it's the best "own hapless enemies as a jedi" simulator ever made (and yes, i've played all the jedi knight games).

you could pick things/enemies up and fling them exactly like psi-ops, it had a fairly complex saber system with tons of combos, shuts, parries, etc... it had force pull, push, speed, jump, saber throw, stun, lightning, all that good stuff. i don't know why it wasn't regarded more highly, i thought it was pretty damn good fun.

i'm actually currently replaying republic commando, and it's really fun also. the tactical aspects of it are fairly limited, but it's got great over-the-top action. i also like the weapon selection in that game... there's only 4 attachments for your gun, and 4 grenades, but they're all perfectly specialized and knowing which to use when is extremely important. it's also got some great characters and dialog. unfortunately, it ends on a cliffhanger that will probably never be resolved because i don't think it sold well enough.

Would be okay I guess but would not come close to an updated Xwing Fighter simulator ala the old pc versions from the mid-nineties. The Rogue Squadron line of games are more arcade and not true sims. You would think with the power of the 360 and PS3, Lucasarts could concentrate on a great flight sim for these systems. I would definitely pay $60.00 for a new Xwing fighter sim.

it would be easy money for them! I still play the line vector Star Wars arcade game when I see it.

the real problem is that the space-sim genre is basically as dead as it gets right now. file it under "nostalgic genre of yesteryear you're not likely to see reemerge any time soon" along with point-and-click adventure games. maybe some day we'll get another, as i loved the x-wing/tie fighter games as well. i just wouldn't hold my breath, as that ground has been covered so many times already.

Unfortunately, you are most likely right. It would be nice if Lucasarts could release a compilation of games from yesteryear for the pc. Games to include the old Sam and Max....Monkey Island collection, The Dig, Xwing etc etc....formatted for use with current technology in relation to the Windows environment.

I just received the issue of GameInformer magazine (Mar '07), and this game is featured on the cover. As you can tell by my user name, I am a big Star Wars fan. The basic plot is revealed. We will play as Darth Vader's secret Sith apprentince as Vader plots to overthrow the Emporer. Vader knows he was used by Palpatine, and now wants power for himself. He recruits his own appentice and keeps him a secret. Part of the apprentice's training is to assassinate the remaining Jedi that Vader missed in his attack on the Jedi Temple in Episode III.

Also included in the article are more specific explanations and examples of the physics engine that the tech demo we are familiar with was meant to depict. The examples they describe are simply incredible. You will have the freedom to kill in many, many different ways.

Multiplayer was only briefly discussed, but it sounds like it will be great fun to jump on Live and have force fights with other users. I can't wait!

The only problem I have with this, is that Lucas would never let them release a "Murder Simulator" in the Star Wars universe......so no matter how many ways to dispatch a person there are, Lucas will only let them push the boundaries so far.....

IE: No "Force Dismemberment" :D

Tho hot damn I'd be all over Force Dismemberment :)

Go here: www.gametrailers.com

and check out the 2 tech vids. There's one that shows the Euphoria Engine--they toss Stormtroopers over ledges and they try to grab and hold on, then they throw 2 Stormtroopers and one grabs onto the ledge, then the other one grabs onto the first Stormtrooper's leg. He says this isn't animated.

The other vid shows off their Digital Molecular Matter. Usually in game when a box breaks, it breaks in half--not in this game. The box actually shatters and splinters blow out. It also breaks and cause force where you hit it.

This game looks TOO! awesome!!!!

Reminds me of Jedi Academy, except it looks like its good. I've always been a star wars fan, can't wait. You think characters are customizable?

Whens the release date?
