I'm looking for any advice/help on a motorized swing down screen wall. I've started the construction of my home theater which is in a bonus room above my garage and I am trying to decide between building a screen wall or having some type of screen that swings down. I have a door behind the screen leading to a deck so I either need to build out this screen wall to be able to walk behind it to get to the door or have the screen swing down something like the attached picture. The screen will be ~110" so the frame would have to be made of aluminum. Has anyone ever seen anything like this for a screen that size?

If I can find it/build it it sure would add to the "coolness factor" :cool: as well as the WAF! :)

That's similar to the type of design I'm looking for. I have plenty of room above the ceiling so I'm wondering if I anyone has ever done something with more off-the-shelf parts.

I think a manual swing up/down screen would be very easy to do, all you need is some piano hinges and a couple of latches on the ceiling. Of course, everything is easy until you try to build it :)

Yeah...but the coolness factor goes way down.

Coolness factor?.........When I was building street rods, I would take an old wiper blade motor off another car and mount it in the trunk to operate the deck lids. not to many operating trunk lids around! I think the same concept could be used here.
