Let me begin by listing to you my components....

Mitsubishi 57" WDY-57 television.

Pioneer vsx 1016k receiver.

I run the hdmi out of the receiver to the television. However the hdmi on it is listed as "passthrough". I am not sure what that means. However when running off of my hd cable box i can get a 1080p signal through it. The manual for the television states that the tv will not exceed 1080i without using the hdmi.

I own the HD-Dvd player extension for the xbox 360. the xbox 360 is ran to the receiver via component cables currently. They have recently patched the ability for thebox to do 1080p however you have to utilize the VGA cable in order to do so. On the vga cable there is a place to plug in your digital sound cable as well.

My question is, if i purchase this vga cable and then put a vga to hdmi adaptor on it, do you think that the television will accept it as an hdmi input? This television does not possess the vga input :( and i really want to get the 1080 p out of my hd-dvd...

first, have you found this adapter?

second it will not work. vga is an analog signal, and a simple adapter will keep it that way... hdmi is digital.

IF there was a vga to hdmi converter, meaning it's going to convert to digital, then you have a possibility of this working. but still no guarantee.

based upon my componets then, there is no way to pull the 1080p out of the hd-dvd. If you have any ideas feel free to throw them my way....

and one moment i shall post said adapter for you...
